Re: Few seconds delay when I try to record, stop, play, etc.

Does the hard drive light go nuts while it's locking up? Are you capturing to the internal drive, how big is it and how much room do you have?

What are you recording normally? Does it still do that if you disconnect WiFi and the network and restart?

Re: Very Inexperienced & Working on Audio Book

You should probably stop recording The Whole Thing until we figure out what's wrong. Filters, effects and tools can't solve all sound problems.

Re: Very Inexperienced & Working on Audio Book

I'd much rather you tell us what they found wrong.
In detail.
We may also need you to post a portion of the performance before you messed with it. But that's later.

Re: low volume and hum using mic

How to run Windows Sound Recorder.
It has a sound meter. If you didn't get a bouncing color during your recording, then your show would have been silent.

Re: low volume and hum using mic

You can make this a little easier to follow:
I went to sound in control panel
You went to sound in Windows control panel?
Does Windows Sound Recorder have sound meters? I've never met it.

Re: low volume and hum using mic

There is one Audacity trick. Audacity checks for new equipment when it starts, so plug something in, make sure it's there long enough to be recognized by Windows, and then start or restart Audacity. If you're compulsive, you can make sure Windows actually sees the new device in Control Panels, then ...

Re: External Sound Card Problem

It is the desperation method. Also remember when you use the cable method, both the playback and the record controls work. This frequently gives the complaint that there's no way to control the speaker or headphone volume. All the volume controls are busy doing something else. You might try running ...

Re: low volume and hum using mic

You got me. I'm not a Windows elf. It's good the computer is relatively recent, and Win7 worked out so well even I liked it. Make sure the microphone fails in a similar way to both front and back connections (even if you have to shuffle peripherals around a little to do it). I'm getting in deep wate...

Re: low volume and hum using mic

Repeat the test that the computer store did. Do Windows Control Panel sound meters work? Does Windows Sound Recorder (or whatever it's called) work?

- Windows Sound Recorder
- Start > Programs > Accessories > Entertainment

(This may be out of date)
