Re: CAD U37 USB Condenser Microphone: beeping in playback
That's an extreme example of "frying mosquitoes." http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/clips/FryingMosquitoes3.wav Listen after I stop talking. That's the computer's digital trash getting into the microphone sound. It only happens with microphone systems and you can't get rid of it in post produ...

Re: Audacity stopped working
I'm trying to remember how to cure this. When the desktop is open > Apple (upper left) > Force Quit. Is Audacity listed there? Kill it. Then restart the Mac. I think there's a way to do it through Utilities > Terminal and the "top" command. I don't remember how to stop a process. "Hal...

Re: Just Getting Started
The reason your computer seems to play keyboard music is that MIDI will run both directions. The keyboard can tell the computer to play Bb above middle C, medium hard and hold it for two seconds . The MIDI interpreter inside your computer will obediently do that. It may not sound as good as the keyb...

Re: Just Getting Started
Usually, the USB connection between the keyboard and the computer carries MIDI computer machine control instructions, not sound. Was "MIDI" one of the words that went by you didn't understand? Musical Instrument Digital Interface The computer tells the keyboard which key to press, how hard...

Re: low volume and hum using mic
Yes, we have had complaints about the Scarlett. Just about all of them have to do with the stereo/mono thing I talked about and trying to use it on complex jobs for which it was not designed.

Re: low volume and hum using mic
I moved the record level up and down as I recorded, and the playback responded accordingly. Both he voice and hum rise and fall. It appears to be working properly. So that puts us back in the idea that the USB connection in your computer somehow is broken — that it does not support your USB microph...

Re: low volume and hum using mic
We may need to wait for a Windows elf. I never got the Win7 control panels to reliably do what I wanted.

Re: low volume and hum using mic
I'm wondering if I should do it over because the mic wasn't attached before I plugged it in, though I attached it right away. Not necessary. The Windows configuration has only to do with the digital USB portion of the cable, not the analog microphone. I'd be surprised if you could do it a second ti...
