If you play the same short segment over and over, is the damage always in exactly the same place?

Re: clicks and dropouts
Ah, progress... :/ Don't do the Yosemite upgrade. There was a recent Safari and Security patch. Those seem to be OK. What else are you doing while you're recording off the internet, and how are you doing it? Soundflower? Also on Skype and playing games? If you blow up your capture, do you see littl...

Re: saved export file is too large
Not once in there did you say what kind of sound file you're exporting. If it's MP3, you can tune the quality and the resulting file sizes at the export step. File > Export > MP3 > Options (lower right). You can get down to 32 quality and the work will sound bubbly, but understandable. That's the lo...

Re: Editing 64k mono iPod Recordings (AAC/M4A) with a PC
Where does it say your iPod has a Stereo Line-In? Mine has a "headset" connection which is stereo headphones and a single mono microphone. Microphone sound level is stunningly lower than the output of a cassette machine and you are likely to create overload damage. There is a similar probl...

Re: I am thrilled to have found you folks!
Most times, an annoying tone it's not one tone, but a collection of tones. Those are much more difficult to delete without damaging the show. If you have the tone(s) by themselves clean and divorced from the show, you can use Effect > Noise Removal and let it generate the notches and filters for you...

Re: Beginner's help needed
Labtec C-324 headphone/micrphone. That is a "headset." A matched "set" of headphones and microphone. You have to tell Audacity where your microphone is connected. It's not USB, is it? It's connected like this: http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/PCHeadset.jpg Go to the Audaci...

Re: What is the nature of "tunnel echo"?
We can put a man on the moon...... One of the problems of processing a sound clip is overdoing it. You know you went too far when you get that talking into a wine glass effect. If you get that, trash that clip, go back one step and recorrect the work this time with not so much processing. You can't ...

Re: How do I make an 15 second interval CD?
If your CD Authoring Program allows duplications, load all the raw tracks and one copy of Tone-Silence-Tone. Copy and paste Tone-Silence-Tone between each of the tracks. Reduce the silence between tracks to zero. There will be a selection somewhere to do that. If there is no place to adjust the sile...

Re: How do I make an 15 second interval CD?
When you have multiple things on several timelines, they will all try to play at once. To prevent that, press MUTE on the tracks you want to be silent.
I missed a step. When you export a finished show, MUTE the track with the tones on it to prevent it from joining the Export.

Re: How do I make an 15 second interval CD?
Do you want to make the tone and silence part of each performance track, or make them individual tracks and duplicate them at the CD creating step? Audio CD Authoring software will allow you to make the time between tracks be zero. So whatever you do in Audacity is the way it's going to be. To build...
