Note the the second computer can't have a working microphone. Either mute the Zoom microphone service or plug in an empty cable to the Mic-In socket. Some combination to get rid of that microphone. The second computer "subscriber" will never say anything in the meeting.

Re: Doing remote interviews
There's nothing easy about this. This is a note from Zoom Communications Help Center. Note: Cloud recordings generally take about 2 times the meeting duration to process. Due to unusually high volume during the COVID-19 pandemic, cloud recordings may require extra processing time that may take up to...

Re: How to spot artifacts?
random bursts of very short tones I'm not quite sure what the real question is, but "random bursts" and Effect > Noise Reduction are really, really, different. Noise Reduction tends to be handy for long-form noises that hang around such as power line hum, fan noises, or microphone hiss. N...

Re: Noise Floor
I'm trying to decide which stories I want to hear in that voice. Jane Austin, perhaps. The volume is super quiet. When you look at the blue waves in the timeline, they're supposed to be something like this. Screen Shot 2020-10-21 at 1.27.17 PM.png Your waves are almost straight flat lines. Your Audi...

Re: Noise Floor
I heard back from the sales engineers and yes, you are supposed to be speaking into the side grill, just up from the company logo.
Or I guess it would be just down from the logo if you decided to hang the microphone. Up or down doesn't make any difference to the sound.
As we go.

Re: Fixing volume issues when not speaking into Mic
For a long time I recorded the "Car Talk" radio show off-air and either burned it to a CD for the car or a Personal Music Player for hiking. It had all the usual FM radio noises, but it was livable. I had high hopes when they started offering the shows on-line. No more FM noise. Yeah. And ...

Re: Fixing volume issues when not speaking into Mic
You understand that what's going to happen is the voice may or may not stay stable, but you're going to get a tidal wave of background noise roaring in and out behind the lecture.

This might also be a good place for Chris's Compressor if it's still available. https://theaudacitytopodcast.com/chriss-dynamic-compressor-plugin-for-audacity/ Chris wrote it so he could listen to opera in his noisy car. It's a look-ahead compressor that evens out volume variations and does a remark...
