I did see one guy standing in front of a room fan and demonstrating different wind socks he had made for his recorder. That's perfectly valid. Thumping wind noise can yield to a good Dead Cat®.

Re: [Help] Removing backround noise doesn't work.
"It worked on YouTube, how come I can't get it to work?" We're familiar with that problem. How many different examples of background noise did he have? Getting rid of fan rumble and wind noise is very different from computer fan whine, and I'm assuming that's what you have. Computer fans d...

Re: Volume Leveling
You could get close with the Amplify effect and Chains. You can set Amplify so whatever you started with, the peak sound will finish at a certain level. Chains is the Audacity version of Batch. If you do build a Chain for this, try it out on a small subset of your songs that you have safely backed u...

Re: Fledgling voice artist seeking counsel.
These are big "?" marks over my head. You included my original scratch test in the "Ambient 3" clip. And yet. When scratch test left me, the third scratch, the "success" sound was massively overloaded and clipping. When I downloaded it from your server company, it was p...

Re: Fledgling voice artist seeking counsel.
The microphone got unplugged during the move and Audacity "forgot" about it. This is the built-in microphone.

Re: Redacting audio with Audacity - Is it possible to revers
I then exported the file back to it's original format type. Hopefully with a different filename. Open and play the corrected file after you export it. I would do it in a different player like Windows Media or iTunes. Nothing like sending the client the wrong version of the file. "Wait, didn't ...

Re: Redacting audio with Audacity - Is it possible to revers
I generally use a 400 or 440 tone in place of 1000 so as to be a little less irritating to the listener.

Re: How to remove snare drum ring from a recording?
I'm lost. You're going to have to give it to us in timeline seconds. Or compare it to a performance that doesn't have the problem. I think you have just officially joined the group with specialized knowledge of a very tiny problem and the rest of us are going to be little or no help. If you don't ha...

Re: Fledgling voice artist seeking counsel.
That's....... worse. What happened to the volume of the performance? Attach (at the bottom) is your performance on the timeline around 5 sec. This is approximately how it's supposed to look. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/Audacity1_record-650.jpg Your voice has to hit 0.5 up and down and your sound ...

Re: How do I make audio track swing through both ears?
One way is to duplicate the guitar into stereo and then use the fade tools on one side or the other. Open and select the guitar track. Click just above MUTE. Edit > Duplicate. Click the drop-down menus to the left of the top track > Make Stereo Track. Use the drop-down tools again to Split Stereo Tr...
