Re: Fledgling voice artist seeking counsel.

WOULD anybody record at 100%?
Many volume controls inside a computer are actually attenuators. So 100% isn't maximum amplification. It's just taking all the attenuation out.

I use mixer and equipment settings that make the client the happiest.

Re: Fledgling voice artist seeking counsel.

SSDs make no noise, very little heat and will withstand physical abuse (within reason). They are poster child devices for laptops and portable equipment. They have no moving parts. If the machine is making noises it may be the fans or cooling system. If the old operating system was very busy much of...

Re: I'm confused and can't record sound

The USB service on a keyboard is most likely key motion and machine control (MIDI), not music. So that's likely not a good option.

I record the headphone connection on my keyboard. It doesn't have a stereo music connection.

Re: I'm confused and can't record sound

That should have worked. If it's a standard part of your computer, then Audacity should be able to find it. http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/tutorial_your_first_recording.html Audacity has to be designed to work with a computer type. So far, only Macs, Windows, and Linux. There's a lot of info t...

Re: CD file size doesn't match program time

I know this seems odd, but when it was designed, they had to find a tight data system that made no decisions. So the sound is always perfect 44100, it always has 16 bit depth, it never has titles, etc.

Re: CD file size doesn't match program time

Music on an Audio CD is not in standard file format. It's basically a tight stream of gap-free music and an index area. If you try to burn a million audio files (99 max) the index file goes nuts trying to keep up. It's never a good idea to bump up against the limit on Audio CDs. You get many surpris...

Re: Unknown Sound

I don't know where to go with this. I don't near anything wrong with any of those performances. Do the English version of the problem: "During the word 'Hear,' there is a 'tick' sound." I have had damaged speakers where one particular tone would cause a ripped paper cone to make its own so...

A crash is different from a stable system intentionally overwriting a file.

Re: audacity not recognizing mics

Plug Something Else into the USB ports and make sure they're still alive.

Do the heavy virus scan where you can't use your computer for a while. Is your profile up to date?

Re: Blue Yeti or 2 XLR mics with mixer for podcasting?

I'm really surprised there isn't a device like a USB hub that combines more than 1 input. That's carrying analog ideas over to the digital world and that's dangerous. It's not like you can open up the cables and twist the wires together like you can with analog. Each USB device is a computer and it...
