Re: Blue yeti not recording omnidirectionally.
Somewhere recently was a posting from someone who said you needed ASIO software for Audacity to use the stereo tools inside a Yeti. It does have them, but it takes some effort to get them to work. Audacity doesn't have natural support for ASIO although you can build your own Audacity program with AS...

Re: Noise Removal effect preview affected by Gain slider
Took me a second to figure out where you were going with that. You mean the +/- volume slider to the left of the tracks. I don't much like those tools. They do too much in the background without telling you.

Re: Delete Selection
First step, make a protection copy of the show on separate media like a USB stick. If the machine has troubles or Audacity freezes in the middle of production, you don't want to permanently lose everything. Never save a corrected show as the same name as the original and don't use MP3 anywhere until...

Re: Several Questions (Auto Align tracks,Boolean Op...)
But what about the idea of a curve of intensity for effects plugins Good idea, but I know what the come-back line is going to be. You can work around that with clean and effected tracks and custom fading with the envelope tool. A lot of the effects work is going toward fixing obviously broken tools...

Re: Several Questions (Auto Align tracks,Boolean Op...)
if I was a pro and or have 340 euros to spend on a software for regular use. They know what they have. I think I have a noise removal tool plugin with audacity with sample but if I remember it doesn't work or is disapointing. Do you know such a plugin that is satisfying enough ? There is significan...

Re: Fledgling voice artist seeking counsel.
As a very fuzzy rule and then only on analog mixers, I start out life with the three volume controls at 2/3 to 3/4 up. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/MixerControls-500.jpg It's generally a sign of problems if everything is run full up or close to it. That's when you start looking for troubles li...

Re: Several Questions (Auto Align tracks,Boolean Op...)
almost identical to the clean track There is no "almost identical." to get any of these tricks to work, you have to have top quality, uncompressed, identical tracks. Most people who post on the forum are trying to do tricks with MP3 or other compressed sound files that even just listening...

Re: Blue Yeti or 2 XLR mics with mixer for podcasting?
Capture each part of the show with your cellphones' Personal Recorders and mix it down in Audacity. Total cost: zero. I wondered why more people don't do that. Ad hoc podcast. Turn the speaker down so it doesn't try to echo cancel. If you use one microphone in the middle, remember to set it to omnid...
