Re: unable to record guitar
A guitar input is a "convenience," but I don't know that you absolutely need it. One of our editors routinely used to play his electric into the Line-In of one of our mixers just to hear it play. As an experiment, I hooked it up to the instruments (with his permission) and if I really hogg...

Re: How to record skype calls on audacity
You should also think twice about using software that insists on saving the work as MP3. If you open one of those up and edit it in Audacity, you shouldn't make another MP3 when you're done. If you do, the honky, bubbling compression damage will increase. Pamela Professional and Pamela Business save...

Re: Question about frequencies spectrum
There are microphone systems and recorders that will not produce crisp, clear sound. I have a portable recorder that has the digital sample rate baked in. The recording quality will never get better than FM Radio and it doesn't matter how I filter or process it. You should change how you record the ...

Re: Fledgling voice artist seeking counsel.
Is this an old Blue from before July 2007 (serial number below 76-065000)? Apparently, this setup has already produced client deliverables. It's not fresh out of the shrink wrap. There is one item I think is worthy of further work. There are now two computers in the picture, yes? Has this computer ...

Did you just double click the AUP file? It won't Import. It's not sound. It's programming language.
The AUP file is the list of instructions how to put your Project back together from all the snippets.

Re: How do I change BIT RATE to at least 192
When you got done with your performances, you should have saved the Audacity Project (Audacity will not Save a sound file), and then also Export a WAV sound file of the show. You may have done this in chapters as you go. Those are your permanent, high-quality archives. From those, you can export low...

Side note. Accepting Maximum Burn Speed is almost always a bad idea. Some systems accept a higher than you think error rate just to get that burn speed up to look good in the advertisements.

Re: CD file size doesn't match program time
Is there any reason you're not using a conventional Audio CD Authoring Program? ISO 9660 is a standard published by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) in 1988. It defines a file system for CD-ROM media (data CD based on the Yellow Book specification) to support different comput...

Re: CD file size doesn't match program time
Do you get a dialog that offers to change the spacing between tracks or songs from the default 2 sec? That's a setting for Audio CDs.

Re: Controls Grayed Out - Program Lock
Files more than 20 minutes long will also open very slowly Are you filling up your hard drive? Does somebody use this machine while you're not? When Audacity starts editing a file, it has to break free a lot of drive space for effects processing and UNDO. If it can't do that, it may hang in random ...
