Re: Fledgling voice artist seeking counsel.
I would have thought we got past this a while ago. You can make a successful recording without listening to it. It's critical that you make the sound meters, lights, and flashers on your recorder happy while you're recording. They insure the correct balance between, overload (too high) and noise (to...

Re: Remove Silence Markers From File While Exporting as a WA
I've never done a full-on LP, so I can't directly tell you, but the answer may be in the WIKI for transferring vinyl.

Re: Static/distortion on recording in Yosemite
FireFox crashes fairly often, Reinforcing my decision not to upgrade right away. Starting somewhere around Mavericks, the decision was made to make the OS much MUCH more energy efficient. The cheerfully spinning backup clock with the tiny clock hands actually moving backwards (nice graphics touch, ...

Here's a copy of Steve's filter in ZIP form. Unzip the XML file and install it in the Equalization tool.

Re: Can you give me some direction on this raw audio file?
You can test yourself. Attached I have posted your sound test with the first ten seconds of performance drag-selected. Then Analyze > Plot Spectrum. Everything to the left of 100Hz should be gently decreasing. It should without question not be going up like that hill around 10Hz and the work around ...

Re: Improving audio quality
You can start by reducing the volume of the voice during recording. See attached on the bottom. All the blue waves that go all the way up and down between 1.0 and -1.0 are too loud, harsh and crunchy and permanently damaged. There's no Audacity filter or effect that can help that. It's too badly dam...

Re: Can you give me some direction on this raw audio file?
There is something wobbling near 10Hz, That happens a lot and it's dead easy to get rid of with Steve's filter. I do wonder where it's coming from. It's too common to be a particular microphone mount. It's like everybody's recording in a earthquake zone. It goes up as you go down in frequency, too,...

Re: Audacity Not Recognizing .AUP
It's the OCDs that cause problems. They line up all the AUP files in one folder and all the _DATA folders in another. That's going to fail because AUP and _DATA have to be in the same folder to open the show. We changed the default mode, but Audacity used to default to reference mode where it would ...

Re: Audacity Not Recognizing .AUP
If you extinguish your .aup file after editing , that's pretty much the end of the world. There is no recovery other than possibly Windows step back tools. We'll see what the others say. We recommend multiple periodic backups, not just one, and don't damage older backups. Time and date work pretty w...
