Re: Fledgling voice artist seeking counsel.
Yes. I went back and looked. I think the non-boosted front half of the clip will pass just as it is. We'll see what the other elves think.

Re: Fledgling voice artist seeking counsel.
You may not need to. I sent the final clip through what measurements I'm sure of and I think it passes very nicely. If there's a complaint of low volume at any time, just use the boosted volume in the clip, or split the difference. Peaks are almost exactly -3dB. Just by observation, the noise level ...

Re: Fledgling voice artist seeking counsel.
Wait. Which track are we looking for? What kind of noise was it? What's the possibility that it's only apparent on playback? We had several recent postings from others where none of the elves could find a thing wrong with the work, and it turned out the performer had a playback problem and the files...

Re: Can my music file be irreversably write protected?
There's a very common forum request: "I'm having trouble recording YouTube music. What's the secret?" So even if you have a dedicated player that won't let you save the work, it's still possible to get a copy. I think Real Player used to work like this. Even the locked-down iTunes universe...

Re: Peak Levels
It's my understanding they're going to do a search for peaks over -3. If you violate that measurement too much or too often, they will bounce the submission. Many people are trying to use simple USB microphones to produce audiobook work instead of going all out with a simple sound mixer and semi-pro...

Forum postings are moderated for the first few to prevent you trying to sell us something. We used to try and catch you in the act, but too many ads and SPAM went through. Now you have to wait for one of us to read it. It's a pretty quick forum. It's usually not a long wait. Just out of curiosity, d...

Re: Can you give me some direction on this raw audio file?
I hope to start getting the chapters recorded now. Before you do that. It's pretty common for someone to plow through weeks of hard work only to discover that the client company didn't like it for some technical reason you can't fix in post production... and you have to do it all again. Find out if...
