Re: Overdub problem PLEASE HELP.
Overdub should be the only thing you have selected in that panel. You should be recording from your sound device only and not Stereo Mix or anything else. Audacity should be set to play to your speaker, headphone or sound device depending on where it needs to go. Other combinations will give you ech...

Go > Applications > Drag the Audacity application folder to the trash. You may need to drag the Soundflower software to the trash, too.

Re: latency when overdubbing
Which still may not be the right latency. The poster needs to tell us.
It's also odd that YouTube comments have been turned off.

http://kozco.com/tech/audacity//pix/GTrackEarBuds.jpg Correct me, but didn't he just match up the trailing edge of one track with the leading edge of the other? Is this one of those fixes that only works with his computer? Wouldn't you want to match up the two leading edges? http://kozco.com/tech/a...

Re: ZOOM H4n as Audio Interface for Mic

Otherwise I use my H4 for field recording, miles away from my computer. Since you're using an external micropho...

Re: Not sure if I should download Audacity
I believe it will, yes, but the forum position is to strongly discourage use of WinXP on a computer that connects to the internet. Microsoft stopped issuing security software for XP, and XP is vulnerable to all the internet evil since that date.

Re: Background music isolating from extracted vocals?
It's actually worse than that. Audacity doesn't directly edit MP3. It converts to an internal format and then edits that. It has to make a new MP3 when it's done and the MP3 compression sound damage goes up. Sometimes doubles. Number 3. The Four Horsemen of Audio Recording (reliable, time-tested way...

Re: Not sure if I should download Audacity
I am not sure what self recording is. Recording whatever the computer is playing, including YouTube video sound , a movie track or playing a Windows Media file. Not just recording your microphone. Please note that we don't have a good success record with Skype or Games. Those are special purpose pr...
