Re: Defective waveform

You don't fit the profile. Most people are not running two different computers in the same box. Some thoughts: Audacity is still set for Stereo. See the box to the right of "Yeti...?" Set to Mono with Audacity > Edit > Preferences > Devices > Recording. Your Yeti is still set for Stereo. R...

Re: Audacity Already Running Error

How does that solve the problem of rogue Audacity automatically launching on startup?

Re: Defective waveform

I think you have incompatible connection settings. Yeti Stereo is two track and you have Audacity set for Mono (1). I'm better than even sure you can't just switch Audacity to Stereo. The Yeti uses ASIO software to do its tricks and Audacity doesn't understand ASIO. Switch the Yeti to anything other...

Re: A Track Moved?

That's because it's not in the Track menu. Select the top track by clicking just above the MUTE button. Time Shift Tool (two sideways black arrows). Click on the top track blue wave and push to the right. Audacity will automatically merge them into one sound file when you File > Export.

Re: Ringtone volume

OK, now you're post-production editing and the convenient slider shortcuts go away. Drag-select the portion you want to make louder and Effect > Amplify to get the sound you want. You can also use Effect > Compression to automatically "level out" volume variations for the whole clip. If yo...

Re: Joining several mp3 files into one file

I probably have to make them into wav files first, Audacity will do that automatically. And that's the first problem. If you plan on making a new MP3, you might not want to use Audacity. Every time Audacity makes a new MP3, the sound quality goes down a little bit. If the original sound clips were ...

Re: need help with usb sound card

Let me guess at the rest of that. "I've been recording singing into my microphone and I bought a USB soundcard so I can record my electric guitar at the same time." Audacity can't record from more than one "thing." So you can record from your built-in microphone or your guitar. G...

Re: Opening song file-sluggish

teh search for the song is really, really slow. The search, or you know where the file is and it's slow opening? When you open a large sound file, Audacity has to blast free drivespace for production "elbow room" and multiple UNDO layers. Also, if you open an MP3, Audacity has to decompre...

Re: Defective waveform

The forum won't accept TIFF picture files. Try JPEG or PNG. Describe what you are shooting and how. Microphone type, model numbers, connection. Did you disconnect and reconnect your USB microphone while Audacity was running? Audacity doesn't like that. It looks for new connections on startup. So you...

Re: Aligning tracks based on beginning of sound

Maybe not automatically. You can do it manually with the Time Shift Tool. Two sideways black arrows. Click on the track you want later and push.
