Audacity 2.0.6 damages 2.0.5 but not 2.0.3
Mac Mini. OS-X 10.9.5 (Not Yosemite) Audacity 2.0.5 is installed normally under /Applications. Audacity 2.0.6 and Audacity 2.0.3 are installed in "portable" folders (attached). Audacity 2.0.3 appears to run just fine as does 2.0.6, but 2.0.5 hangs the window with the Spinning Beachball of ...

Re: crash recovery irregularities
Audacity keeps adjustments and settings in a separate place to allow you to do program updates without putting all your personal settings in again. Occasionally, this gets us into trouble because Reinstall doesn't scrub Audacity clean like it does with some other programs. You can install multiple d...

Re: Uneducated No0b can't figure it out
Audacity has a very good on-line instruction manual.
http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/
Note under tutorials, it has "Your First Recording."

Re: Uneducated No0b can't figure it out
I may be back for more info. Any time. That tutorial does a pretty good job of stepping you through the process. One of the steps is to make a simple, uncomplicated, non-overdubbed recording. Like, set up, press record and sing three notes. Done. If there's anything at all wrong with that simple re...

Re: Overdub problem PLEASE HELP.
I think I violated a forum rule. We need you to describe in detail what you have connected to what. How are you playing the live music you're making for the overdub tracks? Where are your headphones plugged in? I know you got the original basic or rhythm track (drums?) from another program and that'...

Re: Overdub problem PLEASE HELP.
But I need the 'Line In' to be recorded separate, which is strange because when I set Line In to default and restart Audacity and record there is nothing? and it still records the DRUM track into the second track, without no input from Line In, even though I can hear the line in through my headphon...

Re: A Track Moved?
Yes, but that gives you a slightly magic condition of having sound "before zero." Right? The extra stuff in the bottom track is going to "fall off" the left side of the timeline. Except it doesn't fall off, it hangs out there and can cause calculation difficulties. Being professi...

Re: Importing MP3 files (Not Responding)
How long is the show? Audacity has to de-compress your show into a very high quality internal format for editing. So assuming a 1GB MP3 file at 10:1 compression, you need at least 10GB computer space for Audacity to open it, internal format conversion about 20GB and at least 60GB to do any effects, ...

Re: Uneducated No0b can't figure it out
The UCA202 is not the only way to solve this, but you are so far along with existing equipment, I think that's the cheapest solution that will work. You can buy stereo sound mixers that will do this and there are other analog/digital converters which will work. There's even at least one digital micr...
