Re: Very Inexperienced & Working on Audio Book
I got the clip to pass all three specifications as long as you don't measure beyond "OK Folks." All the dialog past that is too low. The performer's voice fades into the sunset. Open the clip in Audacity. See how the blue waves get smaller and smaller toward the right? You can't do that. A...

Re: Very Inexperienced & Working on Audio Book
This test is close, but will still need work. I need to step out for a while, but on first pass, the silent stretch has a noise level of about -60, but before you congratulate yourself, the peak sound values are -5.4, not -3, and when I fix that, the noise floor is going to go up past specification....

Re: Saving over original WAV
Stepping on old work is highly not recommended, although popular. We know it's popular from the people who post here wanting to know how to rescue their show when the computer does something funny during the Export and takes out both the edited work and the original. But more to your question, Audac...

Re: Importing MP3 files (Not Responding)
With 20GB free, I'm betting the first time you try to do filters or effects, the machine is going to stop working. Audacity has to keep recursive copies of the show to make UNDO work. So see my earlier post. You may force the show to open, but I bet it doesn't stay opened.

Re: Uneducated No0b can't figure it out
Is it adjustable or not adjustable? The UCA202 mixes your live voice with whatever is playing on Audacity to make the headphone signal. That's what the little Monitor switch does. The UCA202 has no knobs to adjust except the headphone volume. However, you can adjust the individual track playback in...

You can use Edit > Select > All instead of clicking on each track to select it.

Re: Joining several mp3 files into one file
Note that making a WAV doesn't clear up all the MP3 damage up 'til then. It just prevents the sound quality from getting worse.

Re: separating recorded songs into separate tracks
You're trying to burn them to a CD, right? Place a Label in front of each song on the Audacity Timeline. Don't forget the first one. http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/label_tracks.html Then Export Multiple. Audacity will create a pile of individual sound files which will play as individual tracks...

I do now.As you'll know, 2.0.6 requires a later version of FFmpeg than 2.0.5.
