Re: Audio help
Remarkably like the way I did it. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/PodCast_Studio_WS.jpg But I'm having trouble with the audio levels between our Skype hosts and us. Shouldn't you be able to just reach over and advance the slider called "Skype" that's feeding the mixed show? They won't c...

Re: How Do I Get This This Window
That's the real time frequency analysis in Cool Edit, isn't it? Audacity doesn't have a tool like that. We have post production Analyze > Plot Spectrum. Drag-select the portion you want analysed.

Re: Does my audio sound fine?
We'd be happy to listen to your sound. Post a ten second mono WAV clip. Stay away from MP3 for sound production. We're also interested in the raw clip. What did it sound like before you messed with it? Most people overdo noise removal. We may be able to suggest better settings. Can I assume you're t...

Re: Help with RMS and noise floor
You don't need to post it, but yes. Record a longer piece and make sure your system is not clicking or popping by itself. That can be a very serious problem on some machines.

Re: How to route audio (VoIP phone calls) to sound card chan
Audacity will record from multiple channels, but will only record from one device. Many multi-channel soundcards arrange the channels in stereo pairs, so Audacity will only record from the first stereo pair. That's probably why you got stuck with the first two. Audacity also does not directly suppor...

Lower right. Length of Filter slider in the equalization panel.
We kind of need an answer. Can you account for those noises at 9 seconds?

Re: Uneducated No0b can't figure it out
Assuming no hardware changes, I expect you to get through many layers of several songs before you should check it again. You'll know to check it because you will have performed a perfect musical cut and know exactly how it sounded, but that's not how it played back when you were done. Even that isn'...

Re: how to get it between -23db and -18db for ACX standard
You may make it past ACX compliance (noise, peaks, etc), but you're never going to make it past Quality Control with that odd voice tone and fading. This clip is the poster child for sound processing that Windows has in Version 7 and 8 to help you with conferencing. Conferencing voices don't have to...

Re: Very Inexperienced & Working on Audio Book
Minor variations will die in post production processing. -6 is a desirable goal, not a law. You should not spend a lot of time way below or way too high. Too low can be a problem, but high enough to max the meters out at 0 is very serious sound damage.
