Re: recording voice mail to laptop
Yes. When you record something, the red recording meters pulse and bounce. When you play it back, the green meters bounce. If you're too low, they bounce way on the left. If you're too loud, they bounce all the way to the right (generally a bad idea). Can you post a short section of your show? Garbl...

Re: squiggly noises
While downloading the original sound file is the best way, that's not always possible with all services. The alternative is to record the show in real time.

Re: Does my audio sound fine?
You're going to have to record louder. The post production clip has too much work done to it and the raw clip is way too low. Koz This is one recommended setup for live recording in Audacity. Undock the meters and make them enormously bigger. Click the ribbed control strip on the meter left edge and...

The UFO202 even has a place to connect that thin ground wire that comes out of a regular turntable.

Right click on the file > Open With > Notepad, TextEdit, Even Word for Windows would do it, but you have to be careful not to save the work when you're done. Just close.

I have window 8 and Audacity 2.0.6 It's almost certain that Windows is interfering with your microphone. Look at these settings or get someone to help you. We can't take out hollow voice distortion that Windows puts in. I'm not a Windows forum elf, so I don't have access to all these settings mysel...

Re: Computer fan being recorded
That doesn't make sense. It can't be electronic because it happens on both built-in and external. It can't be acoustic because it doesn't change when you move the microphone. What's the possibility it only happens on playback? Make a recording with noise on it and play it Somewhere Else. iPod, perso...

DON'T SHOUT!
So you have a vinyl turntable and want to capture music from records? What kind of turntable? Older with just two RCA cables and a thin ground wire coming out, or newer USB. Model numbers.
