Re: recovering file
Is this a simple recording, or were you editing, filtering or doing post-production?

Re: how to get it between -23db and -18db for ACX standard
I have no idea what to do and I am getting really frustrated. I have a Sony PCM-M10 digital recorder so I can get away from the computer. (Using a Shure SM58 with it.) I always keep the WAV files it creates. I only ditch them if I feel it's something that I'd rather re-record than retrieve the old ...

Re: how to get it between -23db and -18db for ACX standard
I tend to record in WAV, edit in AUP and at the end, export a mp3 when it's needed. You said a dangerous word there. There is no AUP sound file format. The AUP file is the xml/text instructions that tell Audacity what to do with all that stuff in the_DATA folder. Too many people mail the AUP file t...

Re: FLAC Export Could Not Open.....
Did you put punctation marks in the filename? Try it once without that.
Try exporting to your Desktop instead of a special folder.
You may have permissions issues:
Go > Utilities > Disk Utilities.
Select your drive and Verify Drive and then Repair Permissions.

If you're trying the Invert and Add method, you might find Effect > Vocal Remover will work better. It does the same thing and has more tools and adjustments.

Re: 'Voice' removal from CD track not good result
I downloaded the plug in to allow audacity to function. That would be the FFMpeg software, yes. Audacity doesn't know about Windows Media without that. when I edit a Media player track the result is that the mandolin is effectively supressed but the other intrument (guitar) is very mushed and disto...

Re: how to get it between -23db and -18db for ACX standard
The MP3 thing catches everybody. Never do production in MP3. Production sound is made up of collections of individual tones. This is the sound analysis/Fourier thing. All the tones don't just add up, however, some of them in the normal process of musical sound subtract. MP3 is in the business of del...

Re: Cannot Record - Windows Server 2012 R2
Audacity doesn't work reliably over a network. It doesn't understand network negotiation and delays. It's best to run it entirely on one computer.

Re: Schedule Record -- Help with script
Audacity is not a surveillance recorder. The only way I know of to get continuous recording and manage the sound files with Audacity is two computers. Also, there may be some issue with file length. WAV files rarely go longer than 4GB and in some conditions, 2GB. Exporting as MP3 has compression sou...
