Re: .AU files should be named sequentially (Audacity crashed
Why? Is it designed to make recovery difficult? It's designed to do exactly what it did. Recover the project automatically. Audacity crashed twice probably with the same problem. After you get your show back together it's probably going to happen again unless you fix the machine problem that caused...

Re: Operating System Recommendation
I have two competing recommendations in one sentence. Get a large, Solid State internal drive. Live audio (and video) work in real time. There's no such thing as: "Hang on a second while I arrange my drive sectors." Musical notes come repeatedly and in real time. That's the obvious benefit...

Re: 'Voice' removal from CD track not good result
"Remove the instrument frequencies" never works because almost all instruments have harmonics and overtones that overlap. There are tools that try to recognize an instrument in the performance and make changes without affecting anything else. They're a lot more involved than flipping one t...

Sorry for the confusion! The forum elves develop a feel for the poster based on the complaint or question. We have to in order to make a valuable contribution in the face of little or no helpful information. The "Audacity Doesn't Work!!" posting. One person was unlikely to have authored t...

Re: How to Export Individual Tracks in Place within Song?
Are you talking about the song gap on a CD? That comes from the CD Authoring Program, not the music itself. If they supplied the masters as MP3, you may not want to use Audacity anyway. Audacity doesn't edit MP3. It converts the work to high quality internal format and then makes new MP3s when you'r...

Re: Audacity file structure for transferring LPs to CDs
You pretty much hit it. Arrange your work in Audacity with pop filtering, effects, if needed, etc. Place a Label at the front of each movement (including the first one) and File > Export Multiple. Use WAV format. That will give you a pile of WAV files which you can drag into your Audio CD Authoring ...

Re: Help with RMS and noise floor
I'm looking at them now. The Length of Filter affects the quality or stiffness of the filter. This filter skates very close between sound quality problems and suppressing noise. A high length value helps it along. The -6 value is for shooting live sound. It was chosen so as to produce a high value, ...

Re: Need help setting up mic and hearing sound via headset.
You're not going to get a head set , but you can probably make head phones work. Audacity has troubles with multiple recording devices. If you plan on overdubbing, you should plug your headphones into the microphone. There should be provision for that. Then set up Audacity to record from and playbac...

Re: Distorted Playback Only When Using Interface With Audaci
This is rough because you can't post a sample of the distortion. Can you post samples from the Personal Recorder on your cellphone? Post five seconds of clear work and then another five second file of the distortion. Listen to the files to make sure they sound like you want. http://forum.audacitytea...
