I can ask about that. You can set a label in the general area where you're working.

Why does the manual not tell us how to start fresh? If you're talking about the on-line manual, it does. http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/ Attached is a segment of Page 1 of the manual. Editing an audio file is really simple and it gets you used to the tools and where everything is. The second tuto...

Re: how to get it between -23db and -18db for ACX standard
There are some handy tricks if you're never going to record in Audacity. The -96dB meter is one, and turning off Auto Update is another. Audacity > Edit > Preferences > Tracks > [_] Update... (de-select). It's convenient for Audacity to continually update the screen as you record to keep the current...

Re: Buzz on Recording, Not Sure What to Do
Before we go off in all directions, it's still very desirable to fix it at the analog stage. I have high tension lines over the house (attached) and I have microphones that pick up hum and buzz out of thin air with no sound at all, strictly through electrical radiation (as near as I can tell). This ...

Re: Stereo is mono
Two-track mono. Same thing on both sides. You can use the magnifier tools to blow up the blue waves so you can see the individual up and down motion. Stereo usually doesn't match. Mono always does.

Yes, the -96 setting can be useful for measurements below 60 such as noises. However, it makes hitting -6 during a live performance more difficult. The -60 setting is better for that. I think even my little cassette recorder had one that bounced back and forth sideways The ones on your cassette reco...

Audacity Projects do not save UNDO. So the shows have to be self-contained when you do periodic backups.

Re: .AU files should be named sequentially (Audacity crashed
I realized I was saving to the wrong disk drive Are you using network disk drives? Audacity doesn't like that very much. If you have a straight stereo show, you can Export to WAV as an alternative or in addition to Project Save. Also if you're going to create a massive show, You should probably Sav...
