Re: Recorded Facebook Bleeps

Audacity recording "too much" stuff on Windows can mean you're recording from Stereo-Mix and not a specific sound device like USB microphone or mixer. This can happen if the last thing you recorded was YouTube or other internet sound. The usual complaint is having the dog barking in the mi...

Re: Line in not working/not appearing.

There are laptops that can convert between line and microphone, but they usually do both badly. http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/peaveyUCA202Lenovo-650.jpg That's the connection from my stereo mixer. The UCA202 is also one of the three devices I certified for sound-on-sound overdubbing, should...

Re: no sound from Focusrite to Audacity

They don't explicitly say so, but I'm guessing you need ASIO software to talk to a Focusrite 6i6. The Focusrite 2i2 will only do its more serious tricks with ASIO, and it wouldn't be a stretch to guess you can't get full six channel operation without it. Native Audacity doesn't support ASIO. Didn't ...

Re: Ghost sound

29dB noise reduction is too much. When you need reduction higher than about 18-20 or so, you should be making plans to decrease the noise in your room. Audacity doesn't do noise reduction on your voice, just the time around your voice. This prevents science fiction voices, but in bad noise environme...

Re: Sound cuts in and out, fix? (+soundwaves pic)

I can't find a sound track if you meant to post one. This is permanently trashed. You are watching the microphone dying in the intense sound field. I would be using a dynamic (moving coil) microphone, one or more attenuators and a separate mixer and recorder—or feed the mixer into the camera instead...

Re: no sound

If you see the red sound meters bouncing and the blue waves building themselves, then you are getting a recording, but you may just not be able to hear it. It's normal for older Audacity programs to come with equipment. You should upgrade your Audacity to 2.0.6. http://audacityteam.org/download/mac ...

Re: .AU files should be named sequentially (Audacity crashed

Here's a piece from the Project documentation. When saving an Audacity project it is normally easiest to use the File > Save Project command, which has a default shortcut of CTRL + S (or COMMAND + S on Mac). If you save a project again having made further changes to it, "Save Project" then...

Re: .AU files should be named sequentially (Audacity crashed

But I am using USB drives. I don't know that anybody is really excited about that. You can do that with FireWire drives. They're high-speed, bi-directional/full duplex. No negotiating. No delays. I used to run machines fully on external FIreWire drives instead of internal drives. Doesn't work with ...

Re: .AU files should be named sequentially (Audacity crashed

This will never get fixed. All the programming talent will be working on the Unitary File Format. Save a one file Project instead of the current system of XML text files, _DATA folders full of hierarchical directories, snippets and graphic files, etc., etc. The goal is a single "photoshop"...
