Re: Please Explain ASIO Support

not an infringement sounding peep has come from Steinberg.
That's different from Steinberg putting it into open source.
Audacity doesn't come with MP3 Export either for similar reasons.

Re: Firewire Device Not Showing Up In Sources

My ADVC-100 has a firewire DV connection. Video, not sound. You can capture your work as a video and then split off the sound using export from your video editor. You're going to need the video editor anyway if you want to put the corrected sound back into the show. Audacity doesn't speak video (las...

Re: Wanted: mastering chain for meeting ACX Guidelines

I did a first quick analysis on the first MP3. You have fans on in the room with you? Can you not? That one thing is going to be a lot of the room noise. Also, as in the comments above, we only need two seconds or so of silence at the top of the test clip and you're not allowed to check FaceBook or ...

Re: Wanted: mastering chain for meeting ACX Guidelines

Don't go too crazy at the top. Nobody is expecting Warner Brothers Music first time out. The "optimal mark" on the Tascam is probably fine. I won't keep it a secret. I'll talk it up as I do it so you can do it without us. That raw clip is pure gold. In ten seconds it's going to reveal your...

Re: Wanted: mastering chain for meeting ACX Guidelines

And yes, I did shoot a simple sound test like that, and with two very simple, gentle filters fell into ACX compliance... and didn't sound too bad, either. Oddly, I don't remember where I left that clip. I need to search for it. It should have been in my collection. RMS is Root Mean Square. It means ...

Re: Wanted: mastering chain for meeting ACX Guidelines

If you've been following along in your hymnal, you know that first pass is a ten second WAV file, not MP3. Post it raw, no filters, no effects. Record a 10 second mono test in your normal announcing style with the red sound meters peaking about -6. The first two seconds should be holding your breat...

Re: Cord use

A microphone to USB adapter like that is not just an adapter. Microphones take serious processing to work right and when the makers try to jam all that into one single, simple adapter, they have to leave pieces out. What's your price range? That might get us there way before anything else. I own a S...

Re: waveforms of imported music have white band in middle

I can't picture what would cause a thick white band.

Shift-Command-3 to take a picture of your whole desktop or Shift-Command-4 and draw a box around Audacity. Post it here.

Scroll down a little bit from your forum message panel > Upload Attachment > Choose file, etc.

Re: Important voice too low, the other one too loud–please h

Skype takes over the computer sound system when it works and it doesn't matter what Audacity thinks. As above there's special software to record Skype so as not to have this problem. You are listening to the Skype echo cancellation leakage. Typically there's nothing left of the far voice. But if you...

Re: help please- " couldn't find the project data folder".

Being professionally obsessive, I would make a copy of both .AUP file and _DATA folder onto a thumb drive or other place not likely to get stepped on by accident while we straighten this out.
