Re: NEED HELP WITH ACAPELLA
If they're both internet download MP3, they're not the same. They may sound the same, but MP3 rearranges tones slightly to make the files smaller, and it does it differently depending on the content. You can use the Time Shift Tool (two sideways black arrows) to push one track earlier and later with...

Re: Noise Gate Question
I'd been using noise gate for quite a while to reduce breath sounds (not eliminate!, just reduce) and found with the standard noisegate,ny that not only did it reduce the breath sounds, but that the ends of some words were also reduced. That's correct. It's really difficult to patch up a ratty perf...

Re: Omnidirectional Stereo & Unidirectional Stereo?
Unfortunately, what you really want is "try it and see how it works." There was another poster with a very similar question. "What sound recorder should I buy as a first time and forever purchase?" Good luck. Anybody who does recording more than casually has a collection of diffe...

Re: Microphone Compatibility
I'm with him. That should have worked. You did turn it on, right? There's a switch on the side. There are some soundcards inside the computer that will fail if they don't see a perfect computer microphone plugged in. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/computerAnalogMicrophone-500.jpg I had a microph...

Re: How to remove noise from sound track
It's possible to have different types of noise and some lend themselves to repair and some don't. Get the engineer to solve the problem and write back how they did it.I'm curious how to do it.

Re: Audacity headroom with Zoom H2 as USB input
Windows can change the volume of digital inputs. That and there is sometimes a "boost" setting in addition to the other adjustments. It's all buried in the Windows Control Panels. I can't find a FAQ specifically for this and I'm a Mac elf. See if there's anything in here. http://manual.aud...

Re: Recording Overdub
Yes, the overdubbing setting is off, but are you recording from the Turntable? Accidental overdubs like this are almost always caused by recording from Stereo Mix or other service like that instead of the turntable itself. Stereo Mix is "Everything Playing On The Computer." Some versions o...

Re: Lost data while program still opened
I've been saving it as aup files Those are dangerous words. There is no Audacity AUP sound file format. The AUP file is a list of instructions that tell Audacity what to do with all the stuff in the _DATA folder of the same name. They're useless without each other. You can't send send a show to som...

Re: Voice Recorder: Olympus DM-650 vs Olympus WS-833
This is a difficult question. There is another poster who is using a Tascam to produce audiobook quality works. So there is no quality restriction. The designers decided to produce flashy jewelry instead of low-profile devices. I thought about sewing up a cloth cover. I have some thin, non-shiny bla...

Re: How to remove noise from sound track
The noise removal tools are intended to remove constant background sounds like minor hum or maybe a fan or air conditioner sound, not loud sounds that come and go as the performer moves. In addition, from your illustration, overloaded sound (red bands) is almost always permanently trashed. You need ...
