Re: Envelope elucidation entreaty.
The worry about the sound level has to do directly with making ACX conformance. Noise is killer difficult to meet and still make peak (overload) and RMS (loudness). This is the process where people start digging themselves a hole with more and more aggressive patches, filters and tools to force conf...

Re: Mixer issues in audacity?
You missed a step where you tell us you plugged headphones into your mixer and the sound at the mixer was perfect, and further, the sound lights on the mixer made it up to at least the "6" level. You can leave the computer off until you get this step to work.

Re: Volume vs Gain?
The reason for the “avoid clipping” rule is to prevent unpleasant sounds, right? Not exactly. The object of the recording medium is to present an accurate copy of the performance. When you clip it stops doing that. The drum did something in real life that didn't make it into the show. You can inten...

Re: Envelope elucidation entreaty.
Are you using Effect > Compressor anywhere in this process? Taming those tall spikes are pretty much what it does. And just to throw mud in the game, aren't these blue waves supposed to be up closer to 1. Not 0.1? Whatever that work is, it's about 10% of where it should be. That can cause Effect > C...
Re: latency
latency settings that I wrote before are ok ? Those are Recording Latency settings. Not Machine Latency. They don't affect listening to your live voice. We can set that later. Audacity > Edit > Preferences > Recording: [X] Overdub and no other settings checked. Audacity > Edit > Preferences > Devic...

Re: Voice Echo Recorded using Skype
I'm not looking for a miracle Actually...... That's probably Skype echo cancellation leakage. If you're doing a multi-point interview, everybody should be wearing headphones. If you don't, you're going to get...what you got. If Noise Gate failed, I think you're in reshoot territory. You have a vers...
Re: latency
Overdubbing makes your head hurt because you have to manage sound going two different directions at once. What's supposed to happen is you listen to your mixer and hear your own voice perfectly in real time. That's sometimes called "Zero Latency Monitoring." No echoes and no delay. The mix...

Re: Two analysis features I'd like to see
That may be what's needed. Those tools are very desirable but if nobody can produce the actual code, then they may be "available on somebody else's program" for a while.I can't code for squat.
Re: latency
to sing hearing my voice in delay is annoying That one is computer latency. I'm surprised that you have that delay when you are listening to the mixer. That delay normally happens when you listen to the computer. If you disconnect the computer or turn it off, can you hear yourself OK at the mixer? ...
