Re: Blue Yeti Microphone Creates High Pitch Noise

Frying mosquitoes. Like this: http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/clips/FryingMosquitoes3.wav That's rough to get rid of, but yours is low enough level to succumb to gentle noise removal. When you do a Room Tone clip, include normal speaking. You can post ten seconds of mono WAV on the forum. Two seconds...

Re: Please check out my room tone

That seems to work. I like two to three seconds of room tone because that doesn't give anybody enough time to do anything else like fidget or check Facebook. Also, hold your breath. There are very low level pops at the end of the room tone segment. Can you identify where those are coming from? It do...

Re: Raspberry Pi + Audio Technica Turntable

Preset Audacity to 44100, 16-bit, Stereo. That's a plain, generic setting.

Re: all seems right, still bad recording

The blue waves with little or no sound are supposed to be at 0,0. Waves like yours are produced with damaged equipment. DC, Battery or Power Supply services are leaking into the sound. That's probably where most of your hiss is coming from. It may be a bad soundcard or damaged USB microphone. This k...

Re: Silence isn't silent?

I'm guessing that's dither. Audacity is not a WAV editor. It's an audio production editor. It runs internally at 32-bit floating depth and converts to your desired format at the export step. In order to keep the bit level conversion errors from adding up or aligning and becoming audible, Audacity ad...

Re: ¿Voice of narrator?

Narrating, announcing or presenting isn't the sound of the voice. Those people are acting. Johnny Olsen the famous presenter didn't have a low broadcasting voice, but he had spectacular acting that made you want to pay attention. There is no acting button. The animated Lego Movie had real actor voic...

Which one? We get the horror tales from people who's equipment doesn't work right.

Re: Static noise with multiple USB microphones

it doesn't sound like it is coming from the environment. No, it doesn't. Analysis of the noise can be informative because noises have signatures. That's why a common requirement for sound performance submission (including ACX) is a short segment of "Room Tone." That's where you sit in fro...

Re: Distortion from loudness and static

This is more normal. http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?p=227816#p227816 "I cranked everything up and I can't get good volume from my Yeti." Audacity doesn't do anything in real time, so no gain or volume controls. Also Audacity gets its sound from Windows, not the computer. Some ...
