Re: How to fix or listen to broken m4a voice memo file

Presumably Quick Time can't play the bad file?
The poster said it would. That's why I suggested using QuickTime Export to produce a different file type.

Re: CAN'T RECORD

I wish Audacity wouldn't do that. That "World is Going to End" log file scares everybody. I believe, unless corrected, that what you have in that file is perfectly normal.

There's static in my recording of an arc welder. We're doomed!

Re: Suggestions on setting up a compressor &/or brick wall f

Audacity is a post-production editor. All the tools work after the performance is done and everybody goes home. There's no shortage of people that want Audacity to filter and correct live performances. Not so far. It's up to you to get the performance converted to digital with no damage. We got it f...

Re: Working with Audicity

You should be using Audacity 2.0.6 for Windows. http://audacityteam.org/download/windows Both Windows and Audacity have to understand all about the cassette player. Audacity gets its sound from Windows, so if Windows is doing anything wrong, Audacity is hosed. http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/tu...

Re: Is it possible to remove that noise ?

Recording a sound system with nothing plugged in is dangerous. It becomes an antenna and picks up all kinds of evil sounds. Is that your pink Mic-In? That generally only works with an actual computer microphone. Most connections like that aren't generic stereo inputs. http://www.kozco.com/tech/audac...

Re: Is it possible to remove that noise ?

That is actually European Power. Notches at 50, 100 and 350 will do it, but that will also damage the show. Noise Removal, although you would need to get pretty aggressive and that may damage the show as well. The hiss is probably normal for a built-in soundcard, but the hum is bad shield. Wiggle th...

Re: Microphone set up for arc welding recording

You can also not use a computer. I could shoot this with my Zoom H4 (hand-held quietly) and transfer either the sound file via USB or sneakernet the memory card.

I would not use a handi-cam, cellphone personal recorder or surveillance USB recorder.

Re: Microphone set up for arc welding recording

If you're worried about overload, a dynamic microphone is best. They're bulletproof. This is the same job as recording drums. So pulling numbers out of my ear, Shure SM-57 microphone playing into a Shure X2U digitizer and plugged into my MacBook Pro and Audacity 2.0.6. That will give you good fideli...

Re: Remove distortion / cracking voice

I can't do it. The distortion is too close to the voice tones to separate them.
