Re: How to make built in input? No such option 10.9.2
Do you have a Stereo Line-In like the left-hand connector? http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/MacLineIn-650.jpg If not and if the Mac setup panels doesn't volunteer to switch one connector between headphone and line-in, you don't have one. Apple (upper left) > System Preferences > Sound. Some Ma...

Re: No input signal to record
Audacity 2.0.6 is not supported under Yosemite. There are known compatibility problems although this isn't necessarily one of them. Koz

Re: No input signal to record
Does it appear in Mac Preferences? Audacity gets its sound from OS-X, not from the device.
Apple (upper left) > System Preferences > Sound > Input. Is the device listed there and does the blue ball sound meter jump when you talk or play?

Re: Podcast with Interview need suggestions on Hardware
If you have a noisy room with bare floors, there are no microphones that work.
Do you know anybody who runs a voice podcast? Can you see how they did it? I'd love to give you manufacturers and part numbers, but I can't do that without knowing what the room is like.

Re: everything has an echo since I unplugged device
It's likely you turned on the internal microphone and speakers at the same time. Probably because you set up for recording the tape wrong—by basically opening up everything and hoping for the best. That worked until you unplugged the tape machine.

Re: How does one merge AUP files ?
If you're going to bump up against transferring large files around, DropBox and other services are available. If you don't do anything silly or monstrous, they're free. If I'm not mistaken, one of those permit a new Playlist to be created and then, it appears in the LH list, where you can also renam...

Re: Audacity keeps stopping randomly
Which Windows? You're recording a YouTube presentation and a game and your live voice? I can easily imagine some of the Audacity control keystrokes overlapping the other events. Audacity traditionally Doesn't Play well with Others. It assumes it's the only audio program running and has no provision ...

Re: Special installation help.
Since it's an ".exe" executable file, you should be able to just move it to the computer and double click on it (said the Mac user).

Re: Hiss/static/fuzz. ART USB DualPre, Win 8.1
It's a bad idea to test a microphone preamplifier with nothing plugged in. The tiny wires inside the connection become little antennas and pick up any electrical interference in the area. Engineers have a sealed "fake" microphone for testing. It appears electrically like a perfect micropho...
