But, I don't think your interface has that. Actually, I think it does from a greatly magnified view of that knob that says DIRECT and USB. However, One of the comments on Sweetwater points out this thing is probably USB 1.1 and that can create speed problems of its own, absent ASIO. But, I think th...

Re: Lost all my work tonight
I think this is a similar problem to asking Audacity to save projects with UNDO (which it doesn't do). The show would get very big in a hurry. The complexity would kill you, too. Didn't Audacity do something like that in an earlier version? I remember. It used slippery English and it made you think ...

the old feature and I use 20 times a day. I don't know that you need to do that. The noise sample you posted is not obtrusive and just sitting there it meets ACX AudioBook guidelines for background noise. However, if your recording technique isn't very good, then yes, you may need technical help. I...

Re: Lost all my work tonight
I don't understand why the temp folder was empty. Audacity clears its temporary storage when it intentionally closes. You can Save a Project before you close and Audacity will save everything except UNDO, and you can Export a sound file. Those are the two options. Programs can't leave temporary and...

Re: Extracting voices from movie trailers
Vocal Isolation is very difficult to do and Audacity has no built-in tools for it that I know of. Vocal Isolation is the search term. If the show is in mono, even the higher-end software packages are going to have trouble.

Re: Unable to run Audacity 2.1.0 with Os X network account
only the user data ("~/username" to clarify), like the Audacity preferences, is stored and accessed through the network Without getting down to the fine details, Audacity doesn't understand network delays and management (yet). If it needs to access any part of the application over the net...

Re: FLAC File Size Grows!?!?
Audacity always works internally at 32-floating. So you always get two conversion no matter what. If you started out life with a 16-bit recording, you should probably just leave it there.
This is not like MP3 which can get very seriously worse with repeated exports.

So this all comes down to how you connected the mixer to the computer.Trying to record speaking (I work as a play-by-play radio broadcaster) from a mixer in mono.
How did you do that?

Re: Problems Exporting
Start with a clean Audacity (restart it). Generate > Noise: any color, ten seconds.
Try and export that to the desktop with a name of NOISE. No puctuation, no three-letter suffix. Does that work?

Re: Audacity crashes when running plugin
How long is the show? You can get into trouble if you have a very highly compressed multi-hour MP3 file. Audacity blows that out to an uncompressed, 32-bit floating file which would be huge and easily overrun the capacity of the machine, depending on what else you have running. Also, Audacity is not...
