Re: I'm not getting very far with my project

Each time you import a sound clip, it will create its own timeline stacked one above the other and play at the same time. You can play any of them or stop playing with the MUTE or SOLO buttons to the left of each track. http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/audio_tracks.html#panel The Time Shift Tool...

Re: Echo removal function?

I've had more success in 2.1.0 using a small section of "reverb only" as the Noise Profile. Then something strange may be happening behind the curtain. Echoes or room reflections are the performer's own voice coming to the microphone multiple times by way of bouncing from the walls and ce...

There's some tricks to this and there's more than one way to do it.

Re: Echo removal function?

I thought for a long time that you could do OK by creating an artificial echo, add it to the show and see if the overall volume went down. Then keep changing the size, polarity and delay of the signal until no further improvement is possible. Then make a new one and go through it all again. That has...

Re: Echo removal function?

There are expensive software packages with convolver tools and modules, but every time I ask a competent user how they handle room echoes, they "hear their mom calling" and have to go.

Re: Lose Debate, Post Last Word, Lock Topic, Erase VOTE?

If I had to guess at it, I'd say we brought out a new version of Audacity and the complaint system was reset. Does that sound more likely? Koz

Re: Echo removal function?

No, but if you wanted to program one for us you would be the biggest hero on the planet. Echoes are one sound problem that can kill a production. See #1. The Four Horsemen of Audio Recording (reliable, time-tested ways to kill your show) -- 1. Echoes and room reverberation (Don't record the show in ...

Re: Good mic for podcasting

Got it. I have the MS9701B mic stand, the heavy duty version that costs more. And yes, it's still available. The Shure SM58 microphone is the common, indestructible, "rock band" directional microphone. That's it in the illustration that features the moving blankets for an animation vocal s...

If you substitute parts (perfectly possible), post here before you write a check.
