Audacity has no tools to delete anything from an export, so something else must be happening. Describe in detail the show.

Re: How Do I Keep Silence In Export?
Do you have Transport (top bar) > Sound Activated Recording selected? That will only record your performance if there is sound. If there is silence, Audacity will stop recording.

Re: recording 174 Mb file size with 3 or 4-minute tracks
You can always pick up where you left off with Append Record, Shift-R. This will not start a new track. Audacity always works internally at super high quality, uncompressed rates. That is required against the requirements of post production, editing, effects and filters. Those all fall apart very ra...

Re: recording 174 Mb file size with 3 or 4-minute tracks
I haven't experienced the track jump problem. If I submit a bunch of sound clips to my CD Authoring Program and tell it not to put gaps in, I don't get any gaps. It's true I probably couldn't do it in the middle of a musical note, but it would certainly fit in the breath you take between chapter one...

Yes, and as above, you said "Some People" will want to burn the work to a CD. If you want to do it, you should certainly be using your WAV archive, not any MP3s. MP3 always creates sound damage. Your recording, archive and Audio CD should all be the same super high quality.

monaural 192 kbs MP3 at 44.1 kHz Actually, I believe 192 is the ACX AudioBook standard for submission. It's wildly better than required for a simple MP3. You can get just passable mono voice tracks at 32. ACX requires this terrifically high quality because they are planning on resampling the work i...

Re: Very Inexperienced & Working on Audio Book
This is an "adjusted" version of the Shure track, and yes, I found the same problem with my H4. This is odd because someone else claimed good performance using this H4 and I've used it for other jobs. The first track with the built-in microphones is picking up hum and room noises. I wonder...

Re: How to remove background voices from tracks
If this is a video show, most video editors will only let you match to the nearest television frame which isn't near close enough. You need to split the sound off, match them in Audacity and then match the sound back to the picture (in as close sync as you can). This is why post production can take ...

Re: How to remove background voices from tracks
The hollow sound is what happens when the two tracks are not in perfect (or near-perfect) sync. It can appear in two ways: you start at the same time but you didn't mix the two tracks perfectly, and also, sync can drift over the course of the show. The drift thing can also happen if you try to use t...
