Re: Dynamic Compression Problem?
First and Last segments of a compressed show are always challenging. The business of making any point the show harmonious with the segments before and after stops working.
Does it work better if, as a test, you put a second of silence before the show and then compress?

Re: HELP
Are you saving periodic backups, the whole show under different filenames, say once every half-hour or so? So you can just go back to the last one you made and reproduce everything after that. Alternately, correct me, but doesn't ACX have you submitting chapters? So you should still have all the cha...

Re: signal recorded, can't hear audio on record or playback
You have to insure that Audacity is playing to something you can actually hear. It's not unusual for Windows to try to send sound out to a USB microphone. No, that doesn't work very well. Use the Audacity Toolbar to set the playback device (Soundcard? Other?) http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/dev...

Re: How do i paste two sound files end to end?
Let's assume you have two sound files. File > Import them and they will appear one above the other and play at the same time. You can use the MUTE and SOLO buttons to the left to hear each one by itself. Select them both by shift-clicking just above each MUTE button. Tracks > Align Tracks > Align En...

Re: separating audio from an mp4 file
You can use Audacity with the FFmpeg add-on software and that should open up the sound part of a video.

That is a question, isn't it?1) Get the large video file to my Windows desktop to process it with Audacity.

Re: Record from Tape Player
I deleted your email address. It's dangerous to put that on the forum. The Dazzle is a video digitizer, isn't it? So you are creating a video file with no video. Some digitizers will allow you to do that. Some produce digital trash. If you use the Dazzle software to capture a video and save it, chan...

Re: New Users: Video Tutorial Guides
Thank you for the cross links. Which Audacity is that? We get people posting on the forum all the time claiming intimate knowledge of an Audacity that hasn't been current in years. The current Audacity 2.1.0 has greatly improved tools and look. The sound meters for one, are much larger and easier to...

raw, unprocessed recording as good as possible We're working with another poster who is experimenting with different microphones and configurations. He hit one combination that only takes gentle volume boost to make it fully ACX AudioBook and Broadcast compliant. "OK, stop. Let's use that one....
