Re: Rejected by ACX
I hope this is consistent enough. It should be yes, particularly if you can listen to them in rough sequence and they all sound about the same volume. They should, given the numbers you got and assuming the other two numbers work out as well. Amplyfy>Normalize>Compress>Normalize. Exactly correct, e...

Re: Removing buzz from my audiobook
I can't help wondering if this is a grounding problem in the recording system, particularly since the tones making up the buzz are all multiples of 60 Hz, the power frequency in the US: 60, 120, 240, 300, etc. We took you at your word that you're required to clean up this recording , but if you want...

Audacity playback can be set independently of the system or other programs using the Device Toolbar.

Re: Very Inexperienced & Working on Audio Book
Not yet it doesn't. I'm still juggling other posters and hope to get finished before I need to go to bed. The Lifter reportedly solves a low volume problem many analog USB sound systems have. If it does, then there is no reason not to produce a terrific sounding product. You already have most if not...

Re: Rejected by ACX
Save everything and restart the machine. I'm most concerned that we're getting different results by apparently pushing the same buttons. I don't think there's anything wrong with the show. I repeatedly get good ACX conformance and clear vocals with simple corrections on your clips and you keep missi...

Re: Interfacing with M-Audio Fast Track Pro
All you should need is the Windows driver and you may not even need that. If it arrives as a simple stereo device and shows in Windows , then Audacity should know how to connect to it. So look in the Windows Control Panels. Either restart Audacity or Transport > Rescan... just in case you plugged ev...

Re: Very Inexperienced & Working on Audio Book
That could be interesting. I don't know anybody that has a Lifter. You may have hit the magic formula for producing near-perfect recordings. You should suppress the urge to edit older posts even though it's allowed. We don't automatically go back and look at older posts, so if you put something impo...

Re: Very Inexperienced & Working on Audio Book
You're not in Audacity 2.1.0 are you? That's a problem. I'm using all the up-to-date correction and filter tools. If you're using an older Audacity, those settings are not going to translate well — or not at all. Audacity 2.1.0 includes greatly improved tools and services. If you have Audacity 2.10 ...

Re: Rejected by ACX
I don't understand how we're getting such different numbers. To recap, we're both in Audacity 2.1.0 and on Macs? Open a show and open Effect > Compressor... but don't apply it. Do a screen capture of that panel. Shift-Command-4 and draw a box around the panel. Post it. We may be experiencing the rea...
