Re: Very Inexperienced & Working on Audio Book

That doesn't look like the Shure microphone. Wait, you said you got a different one from the rock band mic. I need to go back and look.

That's exactly the idea with blankets and towels. Again, your vocal tones are perfect. Nobody can tell you're recording at home except for the noise level.

Re: Very Inexperienced & Working on Audio Book

It does sound much better, but I know there were earlier tests that sounded even better yet. Not the voice. The voice is fine. It's the Room Tone, the noise when you stop talking. I can tell you where to put the controls if I could see and read the mixer knobs. In the earlier clip I had clear fans o...

Re: Hollow, echo-y sound

How are they being recorded? Describe the microphones and connections.

There is one common cause of very odd sounding voices and that's Windows Enhanced Services.

Re: Removing buzz from my audiobook

Fascinating you have 60Hz interference in a 50Hz country. So you already know how to correct the problem at the recording stage. USB microphones are not a gift from the angels. They can have very serious noise problems from bad connections, poor quality USB services and as you're finding, interferen...

Re: Windows 7, the line in shows my mixer, but it won't reco

Also, if you're in Windows 7, it should be possible to go into the Windows Control Panels and see the mixer and watch the little bouncing light sound meter. Audacity gets its show from Windows, so if Windows can't find it......

Re: Windows 7, the line in shows my mixer, but it won't reco

Could it be as simple as setting Audacity to Stereo? Windows sometimes assumes "USB" automatically means a mono microphone. Stereo/Mono doesn't always cross. http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/device_toolbar.html I don't think this is your problem, but sometimes Audacity will ignore a de...

Re: Recovering crashed project

If you're in the command prompt, the C is the message from the computer to you that it's expecting you to type something after the C.

Re: Very Inexperienced & Working on Audio Book

finished some of the new graphics to go with Audacity 2.1.0. These are roughly what your recording meters are supposed to look like when your voice is normal volume. Keep a lot of it in the yellow. http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/RecordingMetersMinus_6.jpg Yes, I understand they bounce around...

Re: Creative Sound Blaster ZxR Optical s/pDIF Surround Recor

Audacity doesn't do much of anything in real time, so that's the first problem right there. You'd be trying to plug into programming hooks that aren't there.

Second, you're volunteering the overworked programming group to design a patch for one (1) person. Probably not likely.
