Re: Hissing(white noise) problem with USB microphone
(I also have one more condenser mic and it has the same problem, which leads me to conclusion that its not the problem with mic itself) We live on fine details. What other microphone and is it USB? Is this a raw sound file? Did you press Stop from the recording and immediately Export? Record another...

Re: Voice over tinny sound needs fixed
In one of the ACX videos, they tell us if the room effects are just not up to a good result, maybe you need to record somewhere else. The modern room design of polished wood floor and bare walls is considered a hostile recording environment by everybody I know. Oddly, a stand-alone garage usually do...

Re: Very Inexperienced & Working on Audio Book
The reason I want to see/have/experience the manual is exactly the phantom power. There is at least one mixer out there that claims in big letters "Phantom Power" and way down in the fine print admit that it's the older 12 volt version, not 48 volts. I'm betting 12 volts will not run the L...

Re: New and needing a little direction
If you go with Steve's LF_Rolloff filter, it's used with the equalizer "Length" slider all the way up. All that sub-audible rumble and trash that screws up other filters goes away.

Re: New and needing a little direction
There's little or no actual room tone in that clip. I'm going with a fractional segment right around 7 seconds. (Turn the volume way up). I can get closer with: Effect > Equalization > LF Rolloff for Speech (custom filter). Effect > Normalize > [X]Normalize to -3 [X]Remove DC But I still get noise p...

Re: Blue yeti and a stand.
If the stand insists on moving and vibrating with the table it's standing on, then a microphone shock mount is called for. It isolates the body of the microphone from the stand. You can get ones designed for your microphone, you can get generic ones, or I once built one with plumbing parts and lette...

Re: Problems with the new Noise Reduction replacing Noise Re
It is not. The result is remarkably clean. I understand it's just waiting for me to let my guard down. That's not to say the tool is "perfect in every way" (Mary Poppins). Why is the Smoothing slider at one end in order to select the "middle" of the range? Where are the markers f...

The other depressing way to look at this is the metal table is a performer in the show. "Today featuring three doctors and a stainless-steel table."

Re: Removing strong peaking sounds from recording
Please note that software like this doesn't "know" what a pop is. It gets a signal from a rapidly increasing sound signal and turns off the channel. It may or may not know when to turn it back on. It's not going to "reveal" the doctor's voice. There will be an empty hole during t...

Re: I can no longer import music to Audacity
Pages and pages of screaming about not being able to find FFMpeg is normal. The way I understand it, Audacity goes for the QuickTime libraries to open up odd formats. This is what makes not being able to open iTunes files odd. iTunes opens them up with QuickTime Libraries. Unless you had the misfort...
