Re: Meeting Acx requirements
Another production note. Your RMS loudness in that clip is bumping right along on the minimum needed even with the compressor and corrections. You will find that your RMS setting will go up with fewer and shorter sensuous pauses in the work. This is messy now, because I really like it the way it is....

Yes. Very minor corrections. "Effect->Amplify", set the new peak level to -3 dB. I don't do it exactly like that. I use Normalize. Effect > Normalize: [X] Remove DC, [X] Normalize to 3.2 dB > OK. This will seem odd, but 3.2dB correction will take care of you accidentally exceeding -3.0dB w...

Re: Meeting Acx requirements
I thought that I had to apply at least 3 effects to get a Retail quality No. I did my sound test with no complex effects. Steve's filter, a little hum rejection, set the volume and out the door. That's what's supposed to happen. Flynwill noted outside the forum that he thought your latest effort wo...

So a new one is likely to have the "safe" settings of low volume, plain stereo (or maybe mono), default data settings, etc.

Re: Getting Audacity to acknowledge and read Lexicon Alpha D
After one of Windows automatic closings and re-bootings, We might want to spend a little more time right there. Audacity will not cause Windows to restart, but your sound drivers might. Sound drivers have hooks into the Windows' internals and they can cause very serious damage. Does your sound devi...

Re: back ground hiss
Which USB microphone? Snowball? Yeti? We get tons of good intel with a short sound test. Note that some of this doesn't work in earlier versions of Audacity. Audacity 2.1.0 is highly recommended. http://web.audacityteam.org/download/ http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/TestClip/Record_A_Clip.html Res...

Re: Meeting Acx requirements
I'm pleased to listen to your works, but not right now. I have to go out and play Real Life. A different elf may drop in. My world tends to be the Live - Capture - Microphone end of it, so you may wait. I'm working with flynwill to Figure This Out. It should not be that hard to buy a microphone and ...

Re: Recording Desktop Audio With USB Headset Error
You could put the original sound track in Audacity and record the commentary as an Overdubbing session. That gives you two different but linked tracks that you can use for post production later any way you wish. The original plays in your ear as you comment, similar to adding the guitar track live w...

Re: Problem with right channel when recording.
Only sound is supposed to get through the system. The older analog systems were really lucky if they could handle just the sound, so they could have a certain amount of problems and nobody would know. Digital systems have no restrictions. If you have any of the battery voltages running around inside...

Re: Balancing a sound board with skype calls
Please note that the instant you start using a mixer, there is no upper limit. Add microphones, add effects, add music. At any time you can get a larger mixer without redesigning the whole world. If you do it right it's lift the cables straight up, slide the old mixer out and new mixer in and lower ...
