Re: Meeting Acx requirements
Quick note as I think about this. The object is to use natural Room Tone specifically. It's possible to Generate > Silence and get a Blackness of Space segment that takes up exactly the right number of seconds at the right location(s). And it's possible to carefully cut your natural performance down...

Re: Very low sound recording for interviews conducted via Sk

Re: What option to choose?
What's the goal? It's not recommended to buy equipment in a vacuum. If you decide to update your gamer recordings or provide clearer Skype recordings, almost anything will work, as above, certainly better than a Windows laptop microphone. If your goal is a good podcast, the options narrow a little. ...

Re: Very Inexperienced & Working on Audio Book
Some would ask, "Where do I slide my sibilance corrections, pop filters, mouth noise suppression, etc. I don't know. After any noise suppression and before compression? I start out assuming you have a normal voice in a quiet recording and the goal is to make ACX with the least fuss possible. Ov...

Re: Meeting Acx requirements
Since the first level of testing is automated, it's not going to get tired unless "getting tired" was programmed in and I really doubt they would do that. I think we're talking different languages again. Are you not putting generous hands-folded-in-lap silences before and after each chapte...

Re: Meeting Acx requirements
The quilts on your walls are there to reduce echoes and "slap." They help with noise, but that's not the only thing they do. This person is recording in a really bad room. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/clips/EchoSample.mp3 I can practically write what happened. They recorded the product p...

Re: Meeting Acx requirements
50 Shades of Peace? Analyze > Contrast works on selected audio. Select the whole track by clicking just above the MUTE button. The track turns gray. Analyze, etc. That's RMS, between 18dB and 23dB. To analyze noise, drag-select the silent portion or Room Tone you made or, much more difficult, try an...
