Re: Will this pass ACX scrutiny?
I more or less located the source of my hum by running the system in monitor (where it doesn't actually make a recording) and then wave the microphone around with my headphones cranked to max. ......mmmmmm......mmmMMMMMMMMmmmm.......... Right-click the top meters > Start Monitor. For one example, if...

Re: Will this pass ACX scrutiny?
You understand that we're going to want you to tell us how you did it? This is right up there with the clip that I made, oddly with the same hum problem.

Yes, I think you're working too hard. Attached, corrected, which passes all three checks. Effect > Normalize > [X]Normalize to -3.2 [X]Remove DC Steve's Rumble Filter Noise Reduction. 6,6,6. The Noise Reduction Of The Beast. If you could get rid of that hum, you wouldn't need the Noise Reduction at ...

Sometimes it's best to submit first. If I do it, I'm almost always going to suggest milder corrections than you. The "raw" submission is really, raw, right? Press Stop after you get to the end and File > Export? We had one poster who admitted, after intense grilling, that he "adjusted...

48000 or 44100 (Video Sound and CD) are both supported sample rates. Yes, try that and see if the problems go away. You should have a very clear reason for using super high sample rates. It's most unlikely you're going to need them for any casual recording and they can, as you're finding, create new...

Notably absent even from that list are compressors and limiters. Oh, they're mentioned, just not in those videos. Those are covered in the hardware videos. http://www.acx.com/help/video-lessons-resources/200672590 McElroy has a lot of very good points in the videos, but processing for submission is...

It sounds like it could be a cousin to a data management problem. http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/faq_recording_troubleshooting.html#skips Audio (and video) production stresses a computer. A lot of work has to happen in real time with no gaps, or odd timing problems. Underpowered, busy or full ...

Re: What option to choose?
Blue Microphones iCycle USB adapter The icicle fell off my fuzzy-warm product list when it turns out it doesn't have a headphone connection. So there goes convenient, no-latency overdubbing. It's even further from that list by being promoted as "stylish." In the first sentence. It depends...

I remember that. You can see three states by standing on the bed of the truck.

http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/ACXToolsToAvoid.jpg I used to know which video that's from. I think maybe the last one? They think this advice is only for very green producers who are likely to overuse noise reduction. But you can't start with process with: "If you're very green and have no...
