Re: What option to choose?

So you're closer to audiobook reading than podcasting. Restricted budget and noisy rooms don't play well together. I can record in a noisy room, but it's not cheap or easy. I've done production recordings with a very inexpensive microphone, but in a dead quiet, echo-free room. One recent poster drag...

And he did. He did an experiment where he shut down his refrigerator and the hum vanished. The last pass test he did will pass ACX compliance with just the rumble filter and adjusting levels. Full stop. I'm going to recommend if he likes the vocal presentation and quality through a careful listen to...

Re: Meeting Acx requirements

We do have an adjacent posting from a presenter who, with the banishment of his hummy refrigerator is producing ACX quality work with the rumble filter and adjusting the volume a little. I keep insisting people can do that. It's not automatically required that you apply tons of complicated filters, ...

Re: "Wave Stats" plug-in

I think it does that during auto analysis of multiple tracks, too. It never failed to give numbers and the numbers seemed rational, so I didn't worry about it.

Re: Will this pass ACX scrutiny?

I'm on my fourth pass... None has -66.3dB noise. Fridge has -61.2dB noise Laptop has -66.3dB noise. So the pint chiller appears to be making the low level hum. You can do this yourself. Drag-select from half-second to 2 seconds. Analyze > Contrast > Measure. Read the value > OK. I'm starting to lose...

Re: Will this pass ACX scrutiny?

I applied. Effect > Normalize > [X]Normalize to -3.2 [X]Remove DC to 'Neither One' to force the blue wave peaks to conform and the other two numbers fell in. So that's it. With just the slightest volume adjustment, you created an ACX conforming test clip. The background sound (room tone) is a gentle...

I would like to only use one pass as in days of yore. I'd like to use no passes as in days of yon. Run the system in monitor mode and see if you can figure out where it's coming from. http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?p=275043#p275043 This is from a current post with a similar problem. I ...

Re: Will this pass ACX scrutiny?

Are you using the H4n to record, or passing on the sound to Windows? There are many, many sound problems caused by the computer and if you can avoid using it for recording at all, it's probably a good thing. I use the USB connection strictly for transporting already existing sound files. Did you do ...

Re: Using the rhythm of a clip on another clip.

I think I know what you want. It's "I can't remember the words." Dum dum, de dum dum."

I can't think of a normal tool to do that. You'd need software that understands the music, not just manages faceless blue waves like Audacity does.
