It sure sound like Windows trying to help you. New Windows machines have sound processing to aid in communications like Skype, Chat, etc. The processing hates music.

Re: behringer guitar link
There's a Behringer UCG-102. Do you have the headphone volume control turned up on the side? If you have headphones with a mini plug, did you get the right adapter? http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/HPAQA1?adpos=1o2&creative=55678036321&device=c&matchtype=&network=g&gclid=CN...

Re: Meeting Acx requirements
I do, too, but it doesn't pass ACX as it stands. The last clip, EffectsSpacing is low volume. Open that clip. The exact one you sent to us. Select the whole clip. Effect > Amplify. Just Read the top number. Cancel — Do Not apply it. What was the reading? I get 5.7. I'm supposed to get 3.2 According ...

Re: Opening .aup files from another computer
AUP is a text file that tells Audacity what to do with all that stuff in the _DATA folder. That's where the show is. They need to send that, too. Put the AUP file and the _DATA folder in the same location or folder and double click the AUP file. If it was a long show, it may not fit in an email syst...

Re: Finding the right equalization for my voice
That and there is another test you can do. Overload the microphone. Turn everything up and keep getting louder and louder and louder until the Audacity sound meters turn red and go all the way up (warn the neighbors). Good practices recording volume is a little lower than that.

Re: Finding the right equalization for my voice
That's way too low. When you record, you're intended to watch the sound meters and hit the yellow region in Audacity 2.1.0. http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/RecordingMetersMinus_6.jpg And the blue waves should bounce around 50% like the recording I made as a noise test (attached). That's a raw...

Re: Meeting Acx requirements
I don't have the clip to send right now. Either a clip, a link or a name. I don't have access to the Oxygen Channel. http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/TestClip/Record_A_Clip.html This is the most bang for the shortest test. I'm going to revise the post to include a bumper sticker version: Freeze f...

Re: Will this pass ACX scrutiny?
Do post back the results, good or bad. If bad, tell us the exact complaint. Your tracks have enough leeway to do simple changes without upsetting the voice or performance.

Re: Majority of Recording is Silent After MP3 Export
The puzzling thing is that it doesn't always happen. Do you have aggressive virus protection? Sometimes a protection program will decide that Audacity files are hazardous and try to eat them. Also do you like to put dates in your filenames? Many machines don't much like punctuation marks in the fil...

Re: Record in Background
You should plug everything in and let it settle and then run Audacity and set it to record the turntable. Then reset the playback system to wherever you want it to be. Windows sometimes assumes if you plug in a USB device that it should send sound both ways. You may need to set playback in the Windo...
