Close Audacity. Can Windows find it? Search in the audio control panels. Win7 had little sound meters, so not only could you see the connection, but judge the sound volume, too.

Re: Recording woes of a beginner
Probably the hardest newbie adaptation is to rely on the sound meters. It's natural to insist on listening to the work at all times while you're producing a product, but you don't really have to do that, and it can get you into trouble. It's not recommended, but I did a high quality sound recording ...

Re: Audacity keeps crashing!!!
There's nothing Audacity can do to cause the machine to crash. However Audacity does step on the sound drivers and control software and those can shoot a computer right in the head. Make sure your sound drivers are up to date from the manufacturer, not just from Windows. Also, if you install Audacit...

Re: Police Loudspeaker Effect
There's a telephone effect built-in. Which Audacity are you using? Some of this stuff doesn't work if you're not on Audacity 2.1.0.the link to the telephone effect seems to be broken.

We don't generally go back and read old posts, so editing your old messages can lead to a lot of "what-whats."
"What? That's not what you said earlier."
"What? Yes it is."
The message thread is a one-way stream unless we have to go back and read something.

Re: Recording woes of a beginner
THE USB connection is for MIDI computer control which Audacity doesn't support very well. I have a Yamaha PSR-240 and a much larger DGX-505. In both cases I split the keyboard headphone connection between the external sound system and my recording computer. That's how I did both of my short test sou...

Re: getting home audiobook recording up to snuff
I'm not recommending using Apple Earbuds to mix music. They were graphically convenient and I had them.

Re: getting home audiobook recording up to snuff
couldn't get past the 'bluh bluh' effect it has on my voice, where my brain is struggling to keep up with what I'm hearing. That's not actually the problem. If you're experiencing the "finger on the record" slowdown while listening to yourself, you're probably listening to the computer he...

Re: Very Inexperienced & Working on Audio Book
Just using that as an example. It would be difficult not to turn that into a teacher/student session. Which you may want. This is why I stay out of production values. The voices I heard in my head have you two sharing the stories, first one and then the other. Your production ideas maybe different. ...
