Re: Make voiceover with music

I thought I posted this. These are the three mixer knobs that control the show. All the rest of the knobs can be left off or neutral.

Re: Make voiceover with music

I have an X2U and I would not buy another one. It suffers from low volume and higher than I would like noise (hiss) level. It does have high-end features. It will supply 48 volt phantom power, it does not suffer from the dreaded USB whine sound and it supports a headphone connection. The ACX people ...

Re: F.A.Q. forthcoming? :)

'Taint that easy. As I commented to a friend in a different venue, the tough cases show up wanting to crank out audiobooks with the same budget as a venti half-decaf cappuccino. Then there's the matter of the noisy USB microphones for which there still is no current accessible cure. So the answer in...

Re: getting home audiobook recording up to snuff

That's what so darn much fun about this. The 3.2 number is intentional. When you convert from your WAV master and archive to MP3 for delivery, the process can slide your peak values around a little. The .2 almost guarantees the result will make it past the 3.0 trigger at ACX. Numbers slightly lower ...

If I give you my UPS account number, can you send some water to Los Angeles?

Re: Collate voices

The short answer is no. Vocal quality is affected by tons of different things and any one of them is enough to throw off the reading. For one simple example, the exact same voice in WAV and MP3 will not match.

Re: getting home audiobook recording up to snuff

That works. I need to get the testing tools written down. [email protected]#$% Post more finished work/chapters/clips. I want to see if those tools are universally applicable, or that I just happened to get lucky once. This is a segment of a document I half-finished. — Measure RMS (loudness). [Between -18dB and -2...

Re: Finding the right equalization for my voice

Would that be an issue? Should I find a different program to use for that? Yes. Audacity doesn't always work well with Skype. Skype likes to take over the sound services in your machine and it doesn't much care whatever else is going on. It's very common to only be able to record one Skype voice an...

Alesis Linelink USB audio interface I know you're chomping at the bit, but you should probably mention purchases here before you make them so we don't have multiple people working at cross purposes. I use the Behringer UCA202 USB interface because it not only adapts your work, but it gives you a re...
