About 90% of that is acting and there is no acting effect. Someone will post with the probable filters. Even if we get the filters right, you're still going to sound like you with filters. "Make me sound like somebody else" is a very frequent request. We can't do it, but it's very frequent...

The De-Esser for Windows is "Spitfish." http://www.digitalfishphones.com/main.php?item=2&subItem=5 Attached is the gentle de-crisper and a picture of what the equalization curve looks like in use. The second picture is what happens when I grab one of the tiny round inflection points wi...

Re: getting home audiobook recording up to snuff
.. it'll probably be worth it to lose the extra noise. Well worth it. I remember an earlier test where I was surprised how "easy" it was to suppress the whine. Most people aren't so lucky. Since Noise Reduction takes two steps, not using it peels off both steps from the process. I spent 9...

Re: Make voiceover with music
This is an X2U test with my normal voice and microphone. The noise after I stop speaking has no whine or whistles in it, but the shshshshshsh sound is much too high. That's not my room or microphone. The X2U is making that. The instruments say -49dB in that clip. ACX AudioBook standards are between ...

Re: getting home audiobook recording up to snuff
VOICE STUDIO That's a joke, right? Voice...over...studio. Arf arf arf. Could be a very slight difference in noise reduction selection. Or reference selection. Noise is like trying to give someone the exact height of the grass in your lawn. The goal number is between -96 and -60 however you get there...

Re: getting home audiobook recording up to snuff
Another item. You can walk into a Voice Over Studio, announce the work and walk out with finished sound files a little lighter in the pocketbook. You don't have to do this at home. We take you at your word that This Is The Way It Is. Many people who do this see AudioBooks as a steady job from home w...

Re: How do I even out sound levels?
If we start giving you tool settings they might only work in Audacity 2.1.0, so you should upgrade so we're all on the same page. Which Windows?

Re: Exported Audio (.WAV) Skipping at the Beginning
Yosemite doesn't support Audacity 2.0.6, so upgrade to 2.1.0 may be a good first step. Save the Project instead of Exporting.

Re: getting home audiobook recording up to snuff
I prepared two versions. One selection has the corrections I made, and the other has very gentle crisp reduction after "powerlessness." I can publish that Equalization curve, or tell you how to make and change it to your liking.
