Re: Digital audio recorder for podcasting
This may be the one and only time I recommend staying with your computer. You can run an application like Pamela to record both sides of the Skype call on separate WAV-quality tracks so you can do individual patching and cleanup as needed and then melt the tracks into one show. http://www.pamela.biz...

Re: Amplification not saving
Or computer error. "My computer crashed when I..."actually user error,
That's the one that scares me. Audacity goes insane when it has all instances of the work in the air.

Re: Eliminating loud sound of a recording
Noise Reduction only works on sounds that don't change over time like refrigerator or air conditioning or computer fan noise. It doesn't work on moving or changing content like speaking, singing or street noises. It also only works if you have a sample of the noise without the subliminal content to ...

Re: How To align two different recordings of the same source
You can do really simple, silly things like play a prerecorded click track on speakers so each performer starts with the same lead-in, or have each performer listen to the track on headphones and click two pencils together in time to the track before they start. Having each performer singing into a ...

Re: How To align two different recordings of the same source
It all hinges on being able to align the different recordings. Which in turn hinges on multiple different recorders having exactly the same digital clock rate. This is the multiple USB microphones on the same computer problem. They are not using the computer's clock to generate the bitstream. They ...

Re: Very Inexperienced & Working on Audio Book
There is still some tiny hum in there (below threshold). Sometimes you can get improvement by rotating the power supply while listening carefully with the volume up in your headphones. I got myself out of hot water once by finding the one place in the room where the microphone didn't pick up hum... ...

Yes, I get that, too. And since the tool is in testing, you can compare it with the classic method here. http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/ACXTesting/ACXTesting.html We're expecting the readings to match or come to within spittin' distance of each other. If you notice significant deviations, do pos...

Re: Rapid Comparison Switching
No it doesn't. Which Preference track mode are you in?
No combination of Mutes and Solos will produce one button which switches between two solos. I always get B, AB, B, AB; or A, AB, A, AB. I never get A then B then A then B by repeatedly pushing one button.

Re: Amplification not saving
Stepping on old filenames is very bad practice. You can get bad results or no results at all, further, you may damage the original in the process and have nothing at the end. I would create the original work like you had it and change the filename. Do the Amplify and then export it as the original n...
