Re: recording.

And no, I don't think it's the difference between a 2.5mm and 3.5mm plug. They won't cross.

I would have expected the system to know there was no microphone connection in the plug, but. Well. Windows.

Re: recording.

The decision tree on this machine is different from your old machine. On this machine, Someone plugged in a microphone takes priority from Recording YouTube. Self Recording has never been a high priority on Windows machines and Microsoft has been making it harder and harder to do through the version...

Re: Audacity keeps recording int. sound when using earbud-mi

You might try reading the info in Go > Utilities > Audio MIDI Setup.

That's another place you can set connections other than System Preferences.

Re: Audacity keeps recording int. sound when using earbud-mi

In that case, you can use the port as an input OR an output. Not both at the same time. Or not. The early machines like mine have a dedicated stereo line in and stereo line out. The smaller machines had stereo connections which would switch directions from the System Preferences. Suck or Blow, so t...

Re: Audacity 2.1.0 Won't Find FFmpeg libraries

Did you put it there, or did the System put it there? I'm not familiar with that location. Mine are in a hidden folder /Library/Application Support/audacity. Desktop > Go > Go to Folder > Library/Application Support I've been known to put it in /Applications/Audacity/plug-ins, and then point Audacit...

Re: Mono audio playback of stereo track

When the voice said "this is my voice on the left" I was hearing it on both sides. No. That's highly not right. This is a dead simple track with no voice at all on the "wrong" side. If you're listening to the fourth track on a good stereo system or headphones, you should suddenl...

Re: Mono audio playback of stereo track

You could have a messed up system. This is an aggressively stereo, 39 second test track. See if it plays.

Re: Mono audio playback of stereo track

I know there are guitars there that I don't hear. That could be the second problem. If there are instruments missing in the clip, then you have a damaged clip. If the clip has had post production, then you have no idea what you have and the clip could exhibit insanity no matter what you do. The fir...

Re: Digital audio recorder for podcasting

There is another way to do this, although many people scoff. I did it with two computers and a sound mixer. This has the advantage of being able to host multiple people in the studio and work with a Skype call and integrate real-time music. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/PodCast_Studio_WS.jpg Th...
