Re: Export MP3 in float

I'm betting the legacy 1995 format of MPEG-1, Layer 3 didn't have float. So to make a default exported MP3 play on the maximum number of players, 16 bit is the shining path. Everything inside Audacity is 32-floating anyway, so unless you shot it that way and turn all the dithering off, you're going ...

Re: How can I have 0 latency self monitoring on my AT2020

The AT220 USB+ appears to have the monitoring built-in. They have headphone volume and mix controls similar to the G-Track.

Re: How can I have 0 latency self monitoring on my AT2020

All that happens when you depend on the computer to manage the sound. If you let the hardware do it, the hardware (the USB converter in the illustration and example) grabs the sound before the computer has a chance to chew on it and delay it. And it's built in. No special considerations. Also see: h...

Re: Sample rate : changing 44.1 to 48000

Or let the video editor do it. Most video editors "know" about 44100 and just automatically convert. You don't get any benefit from the conversion. Your Nyquist quality doesn't go up. It's already been limited by the passage through 44100. Are you just assuming your editor needs the conver...

Re: Length of the music track

People do have an amazing ability to memorize music, though, so if you have to do this multiple times, people are going to catch on, even with tinkly chimes. Same thing if you produce a standard podcast and use the same music and extensions week after week. You are playing DJ even if the object is t...

Re: Digital audio recorder for podcasting

I think I follow that. That's basically what I did in that two computer setup. How do you get your voice into Skype? I did it with mix-minus from the mixer since my voice is already there. I used FX Send as mix-minus so the far side could hear everything going on in the "studio" except the...

Re: recording; white noise; volume adjustment...?

I cut your posting. It's usually a terrifically bad idea to post a current email address. We get a lot of Spam you don't see. More detail would be good starting with the pink band info at the top of this page. Then describe in detail how you connected everything. Headphone socket to Windows laptop M...

Re: need help editing and adding audio

Make sure you're in Audacity 2.1.0. Earlier versions don't have all the newer tools. http://web.audacityteam.org/download/ Select a point just before the fluff and press record. Audacity should create a whole new track and start recording in it. You can adjust the fit in post production. DO NOT edi...

Note all three of the devices I certified for overdubbing/sound-on-sound plug the headphones into the device not the computer exactly because of this problem. http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/tutorial_recording_multi_track_overdubs.html http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/peaveyUCA202Lenovo-6...
