Re: ACX Check Problem??
I use an ACX peak range of -3.0dB to -3.5dB. The Normalize tool I recommend produces peaks at -3.2dB. There's no reason to miss this spec. It's not mysterious or fluffy and it's dead easy to hit with graceful tools. This clip was prepared with the processing tools out of order which can very easily ...

ACX Check Problem??
I analyzed a short sound clip and it passed ACX Check even though I believe the peak value is out of compliance (attached).

Re: Very Inexperienced & Working on Audio Book
It may not sound any different (I hope), but this order should be more stable and robust.

Re: Very Inexperienced & Working on Audio Book
It's making my head hurt remembering all the tool interactions. Equalize > LF_rolloff Gets rid of rumble which could screw up the other tools. Effect > Normalize > [X]Normalize to -3.2 [X]Remove DC Sets the Volume for Noise Reduction and Compressor. Effect > Noise Reduction of the Beast Effect > Com...

Re: Very Inexperienced & Working on Audio Book
Yes. That came out well and it passes the tests. However, it still makes me nervous your steps seem to be out of order. The order is important. Having Noise Reduction as the last step could easily mess up the peak or volume setting in the final show. Having LF_rolloff where it is could misdirect the...

Re: Trouble Saving Project
If you still have the whole performance available and open, try saving it to your desktop. You can move it around later and be sure to move both the AUP file and the _DATA folder together. You can get into trouble if you use punctuation marks in the filename. A date is famous for messing up saves. U...

Re: HELP me with recording from one site onto my Audacity
If you have half a brain and can figure things out and come up with ideas on how to do things, you can make a lot of things work that other people tell you cant or wont. So forget the instruction manuals just start figuring it out for yourself. Not everybody can do free association like that. Most ...

Re: Vacancy for editor on Audio Book Production team
We would normally cover up direct contact information, but I'm inclined to leave yours posted. I will not be on the edge of my seat seeing if someone posts back. I don't think anybody on the Audacity team has any more free time over and above volunteering to keep the forum and Audacity itself floati...

Re: Newbie, how to delete tracks
If you import music or press Record, Audacity will create a fresh track for you. Delete a track with the [X] on the left of the track. If you plan on using Projects, it's very important to know that Projects do not save UNDO. So you can UNDO and get in and out of effects and filters all you want as ...

Re: Using Audacity to remove PC fan noise from mic in real-t
Audacity is a post-production editor and does almost nothing in real time.
