Re: High Pitched Whining Whilst Recording

It's similar to 1KHz + harmonics interference , however your fundamental frequency is 890Hz, rather than 1000Hz.
That's discouraging. That means every filter is a custom, one-off job. Koz

Re: ffmpeg installing but still digital jibberish

Your own Audio CDs. CDs can also be little hard drives, Data CDs. In that case, anything wrong with the sound before will also be wrong with it after.

But I agree, it's probably the machine trying to open the music wrong.

Re: High Pitched Whining Whilst Recording

These systems assume the power in the USB cable, the 5 volts, is pure, clean and well-behaved. It's never pure, lean and well-behaved. It's always got some trash running around on it. It originates inside the insanely noisy computer. Particularly on something small like a headset, there isn't enough...

Re: High Pitched Whining Whilst Recording

I just hope someone can help! Only in the sense that we know what it is. It's the USB digital system leaking into the audio. Is this a Yeti, by any chance? I got two of the same notification for some reason. What else do you have sucking power from the Mini? That's what the complaint is about. USB power is not open-ended. You can't power multiple "USB Toaster-Ovens," particularly on a Mini. If the device doesn't show up in System Preferences...

Re: Using Audacity to remove PC fan noise from mic in real-t

Turbulence in the moving air means the sound will always have a random quality and won't cancel even if you do manage to get it close. Try it. Record some fan noise and open it below a voice recording you already made (again, Audacity doesn't do anything live). Select the whole track by clicking jus...

Re: What techniques would I use for improve this distortion.

You're right, there's not much that can be done with this. however, going forward I think we can help. How are you recording the Skype? Just having the far side much lower volume than the near usually means you're not using Skype-compatible capture software. You can dig yourself a hole very rapidly ...

Re: Sound Quality Issues- HELP

You may be suffering from two problems. Many laptop Mic-In connections won't handle stereo Line-Out well as from a mixer. http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/LaptopMicIn.pdf The other one is Windows Advanced services which tries to make your voice compatible with conferencing and communications. ...
