Re: Help with LF_Rolloff_for_speech
For the most part you don't hear this filter running. It's intended to suppress very low pitch sounds like thunder, rumble, or earthquakes. Sometimes microphones make these sounds by accident, but none of them are welcome. You can get similar results with a normal Audacity tool. Select the whole unp...

Somewhere in the install it will ask you if you want to delete all the preferences and settings. Say yes.

Re: Hardware Playthrough
You probably were asking without using the specific words whether Audacity works with ASIO drivers. No, it doesn't. So all those ASIO tricks, like low latency, will be missing.

Re: Hardware Playthrough
I think the Hardware Playthrough is a legacy service no longer supported. Software Playthrough, with the delay, is the only service I've ever seen work. This is also why we recommend listen to the device rather than the computer, if you can. If you're set up for overdubbing or multiple track sound-o...

Re: any comments on focusrite scarlett 6i6
You can have serious problems with fancy-pants interfaces because many of them get their performance by way of ASIO software and drivers. Audacity doesn't directly support ASIO. The complaint is always that the owner can't get multiple channel, low latency performance and that they loaded the ASIO d...

Re: High Pitched Whining Whilst Recording
And just to remind everyone we're solving a broken microphone problem in software, one of the other whine posters got rid of his problem by purchasing a Zoom H2n stand-alone recorder. He has first-hand experience that even when used as a USB microphone, there's no whine, I'm guessing because of the ...

Re: High Pitched Whining Whilst Recording
We're all working from the same "hello" clip. Audio.wav.It won't remove any old whine, only the whine produced by the particular apparatus you used to make the audio you posted.
What happens when you try your code under Audacity 2.1.0?

Re: Sudden hum in my Mic channel
Griffin iMic My old amigo. I'm not a fan of the Griffin iMic. The one I had was such a bad performer I put it in a box in the garage. It may still be there. The box, not the garage. They keep insisting you can easily switch between Microphone and Line-Level. Mine would do both jobs equally badly. T...

Re: Sudden hum in my Mic channel
Grounds. Has to be grounds. Are you in the US? Does it sound like this? http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/clips/OpenShieldHum.mp3 I guess in the UK it would just be lower pitch. If you can touch things or wave your hands around and the hum comes and goes you have lost a protective shield or ground conn...
