Re: Sudden and severe digital distortion/crackle
I believe the buffer settings affect recording. You can do an experiment where you try to make it worse. Change the buffer settings and set the Mini to record anything continuous like a radio. You only have one sample point. If you get multiple points you may discover much worse performance is you g...

Still, if it started to work and then drifted off, that may be a simple song duration problem. Worth a shot at correction.

Re: Verdict on the settings for new Noise Reduction?
The actual instructions for use is carried in six sentences. Most of that is installing new tools. Noise Reduction of 12,6,6 is still a very gentle reduction. I can usually push people into compliance with 6,6,6 or sometimes not at all. One recent poster made do with some sound compression tools, ad...

Re: Verdict on the settings for new Noise Reduction?
Best if we didn't need Noise Reduction at all, but that's not in the cards. We have a couple of new tools since we last looked in on Hollywood. A most handy tool is flynwill's ACX analysis tool which gives you an ACX yes or no and then a list of the sound measurements that it found. No more Analyze ...

Re: Trying To Get Things Right For ACX Submission
Conversely trying to set it on top on the box the mic is in, gets it too close to my face and makes it hard to read. Everybody sooner or later reinvents the sound studio (attached 1). "If only there were a room where I could spread out my script and didn't have to worry about the placement of ...

Re: Trying To Get Things Right For ACX Submission
You might notice (unless you're cutting some serious z's right now) that the live recording specification has peaks at -6dB but ACX peak specification is -3dB. Different goals. Your goal is good live volume without overloading and clipping (generally fatal). Their goal is to make the work as loud as...

Re: Trying To Get Things Right For ACX Submission
You are required not to max out the sound channel by getting too loud. Make the sound meters go up to about -6 while you're recording. Yes, you need to watch those and present at the same time. This kills people who have to put the computer in the next room because of fan noises. One poster attached...
