Re: Help with LF_Rolloff_for_speech
You can just about see the question marks over my head. Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 have to do with building a web page or display system so the most possible people can use it. Did someone say that was a sound test? OK, anyway, I enclosed flynwill's sound analyzer, acx-check.ny....

Re: Help with LF_Rolloff_for_speech
I need to read through that carefully to catch all the points. Yes, there's nothing at all simple about this and it does use its own language. Remember that oboe note at the beginning of the orchestra? Thats 440Hz (normally). High-pitch baby screaming on a jet? That's around 3000Hz. Fingernails on b...

Re: can't hear playback
We would urge actual numbers when you write. I can't tell you the number of people with "enough" hard drive space on a tiny hard drive and the "very latest" five-year old software. The current Audacity is 2.1.0. Audacity 2.10 is a bogus version, so the numbers have to match. Is t...

Re: playback delay while recording
We get into the most trouble by people wanting to do a podcast cold and not following anybody else's lead. Do you enjoy other people's podcasts? Did they post how they did it? Do they respond to questions as to the process or equipment they used? It's not as easy as it looks. If you have a modern li...

Re: playback delay while recording
Stop listening to the computer. Listen to the interface or audio mixer you're going to need if you get as high as 4 microphones. If you are listening to your interface and still get the echo, then Audacity is set to fold back your recording to you. You can stop that with Audacity > Edit > Preference...

Re: Recovering unsaved track
Windows File Recovery is your Google search term.
When Windows deletes something, it just deletes the address. The data is still there. If you have a well-behaved, well defragged drive, a utility may be able to recover most of it.

Re: Another newbie needs help with USB Tape Deck
You can close Audacity for a while. It gets its sound from the Mac. If the Mac can't find the player (System Preferences), that's the end of the story.

Re: Verdict on the settings for new Noise Reduction?
As I recall, your sound clips were consistently too fair, too quiet and too reflective. You should get more voice into the system. Having the voice level quiet and too close to the noise level creates constant problems with patches and filters and effects which can change from book to book and even ...

Re: Help with LF_Rolloff_for_speech
I'm back from the bank. I mean I'm back from shopping. I figured out the graph. Note the Size setting on yours is 512 and mine is 16384. My setting lets you see more of the purple pattern below (to the left) of 100Hz. That's where Steve's LF_rolloff filter does it job, so it's good to see it working...

Re: Help with LF_Rolloff_for_speech
Koz, could you please look at my graph in the file attached below--does it look okay? That is, within parameters for an audio book? Thank you for the graphic. We can't tell directly from the graphic. That's just a confirmation that your corrections seemed to go OK. We have to run tests on your samp...
