Re: sound device error

Audacity doesn't make a 2.1. The current version is 2.1.0. If you really are using 2.1, then it may be a bogus version. Get the latest release from here. http://audacityteam.org/download/ Reinstalling Audacity doesn't reset Audacity. In windows, the installer will ask you if you want to reset prefer...

Re: Choppy audio when recording

Maybe it's not the absolute power of the machine. There are two software packages trying to stand on the sound services at the same time. Audacity doesn't "play well with others," the same reason it doesn't do well recording Skype. You need a software package that "knows" about t...

Re: Harmonics restoration

Audacity has very poor MIDI support. You would need a MIDI sequencer.

Re: Harmonics restoration

The harmonics and overtones are what separate high quality instruments and performances from poor ones. If we could easily swap out the overtones, everybody could have a Stradivarius. Orchestras are even worse. Not only the overtones of each instrument, but the interactions between the overtones are...

Re: Recovering a broken WAV file with Audacity

stereo 96000 kHz / signed 24-bit little-endinan WAV. Did you tell the H2 to record that way? I didn't think the original H2 would do that. Hang on to that H2. The New!! and Improved!! H2n is nice, but the original H2 is going for new equipment prices on eBay. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QcVec_R...

Re: Speed Adjustment Problem

I think I see. You are using the Audacity live playback speed control which has the effect of dragging your finger on the record, but the basic song doesn't change. If you want permanent speed shifts, use the effect. Select the song by clicking just above the MUTE button. Effect > Change Speed. Then...

Re: Any custom tool ability?

If you're sure that each podcast has the same needs, patches and filters, then yes. Audacity has "chains" which is the batch language. http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/chains_for_batch_processing_and_effects_automation.html If the podcast is a group effort always shot in the same place...

Re: Intermittent flutter on playback

Which sound standard did you use? I use mostly 44100, 16-bit, Stereo. Does it still do that on that same clip after you restart the machine? And just to cover it, you don't have a million applications napping in the dock and you have plenty of drivespace (how much) and you're not trying to live play...
